HOW TO OPEN NEW PREMIERE PRO Project on older Version? How to DOWNGRADE a Premiere Pro Project File?

I saved a Premiere Pro Project File in the current Version Premiere Pro 2020 (V.14) and I had to install Premiere Pro 2019 (V.13). But i could not open my Premiere Pro File anymore. I get the message "this project was saved in a newer version of adobe premiere pro and cannot be opened in this version"

So how to open a new pp project on an older version??? In this Tutorial I will show you how you can easily open your newer Version of PP Project on an OLDER Version. To do this you need to change only on number with NOTEPAD. Thats it. You can open an new premiere pro project without xml files or any other tools. This works with almost all Adobe Premiere Pro Versions.

Hey dude, just wanted to say thank you for this. I nearly lost my entire final work for my university assessment because of a glitch in the new premiere version preventing me from rendering. You've saved it for me. Thank you so, so much.

I can't fathom the amount of man-hours this one video has saved... I had 10 projects all with a lot of hours dedicated to them, but not finished because Premiere 2020 would NOT render on my 7-year old PC without crashing... Now I can actually finish those projects. This video is amazing! Super simple and clear!

The project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements.

Awesome Fix!! I updated Premiere Pro 2022 on my Windows 10 Pro this past weekend 10/30/21. Had serious issues with Premiere project files not rendering. Blue progress bar appeared stuck in loading premiere files after launch. I spent 3 hrs w/Adobe online support..fustrated, so I googled & found your quick fix. I went back to version 2021 both Premiere & After Effects. Since I previously built my projects in version 2021 it was super easy to rollback. Thank You D.!

Wish everyone would do tutorials this quick, and don't waste my time telling me stupid stories or filling time with nonsense. Thanks for the video!

I come back to this video every 6 months when a newer update isn't working and my project is going haywire. Thank you.

Thanks so much Daniel! However, after trying to open the downgraded file, my Premiere Pro (2019) shows this message:
"The project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements"

So, I tried redoing everything and changing the number from 1 to 2 in the Notepad, then opened the newly saved file. The message still showed the same.

It looked like, first the file was too new (it was created in Premiere Pro CC 2021) and now it was too old.
Do you have any idea how to get this fixed?

I even tried changing the number on Line 4 in Notepad from 39 (as shown in the problem file which was made with Premiere Pro CC 2021) to 37 (which is the number shown on my other file made with Premiere Pro 2019). The message still shows the same that "The project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements"

If anyone has encountered this same issue and know how to fix it, help me _/\_

Thank you, I had been stuck exporting XML files like Adobe said to revert back newer projects. The only thing that happened was importing the XML files and crashing forever. Finally with this fix I can go back to a stable version so I can finally finish my project before the deadline, so much time already wasted, thanks!!

Hi Daniel! I almost lost all my project from the 2022 version I have done! The 2022 version had some glitches just like you said on the newer updates! Thats why went back to the 2021 version! Unfortunatly I could'nt open the newer versions of the projects. And then I found your videos and I could make everyting work! Thank you so much for this video dude! Thank you so much for this tutorial. It is finals week at my university and premiere pro 2023 was crashing every 10 minutes and I was getting frustrated. I downgraded and I am now able to finish it! Thank you so much!

Savior! OMG, Premiere 2022 and 2023 have bad and horrible performance. And my project was saved with Premiere Pro CC 2023, so thanks to this video i have now managed to revert the project to the 2021 version where everything works fine.

Adobe needs to make this a feature of the program, especially with the nonsense of rolling out a new Premiere Pro version each year with very few new features. It's getting out of hand to do this stuff, especially on Macs. This problem has been happening for years.

Saved my life! ...or at least two days. Thank you.
Because of stupid scrubbing and speed ramp glitches i had to move back to Premiere v.13. The problem was: i already put hours and hours of work into a project (cutting and sorting clips). If i couldn't downgrade my v.14.xx file i had lost 1-2 days. Thank you again.
