On brass and other soft material you should feed at 0.1 to 0.5mm per rev with a depth of half the knurl tooth depth. Feeding too slow causes the teeth to crush previously formed peaks.

In a perfect world we would feed at the pitch of the wheels.

Well done Joe!

Helpful tip for you, I have found the absolute best way to clean out a fresh knurl is with brake cleaner. Blasts the oil and chips away, and air dries quickly so you don’t end up with lint from your towels stuck in the knurling. Give it a shot!

Hey Joe,
Good video, odd about that Aluminium, maybe if you tried a freshly turned section?
Also had the thought that it might have been anodized, but it looked normal.
And after reading the other comments, Yes I did notice your Dr Evil cut, I just assumed it had to be some type of bet or other shenanigan😁
Cheers from Down Under

Hi Joe, thinking of buying the kit but Hemingway Knurling wheels out of stock, can you tell me the diameter and thickness of the ones you used so I can check if my old ones will fit,

Grate video mate but got a little stock at the end there lol

I think you could probably get a better result on the aluminum with experimenting with tool pressure and feed. No reason why you should not be able to get a good result

I’d sooner just buy a Hemingway knurling tool - rather than buy a kit and make one.
Sadly that doesn’t appear to be an option. 🙄👎
