What you DIDN'T know about the Upside Down & Inside Out music video

Damian passed out, Andy had a panic attack, and it would take the fingers and toes of 3 of the 4 band members to count how many instances of vomit occurred. Nevertheless, we persisted. Upside Down & Inside Out's zero gravity music video was one of our most daring to date, so we sprinkled some fun facts throughout it to let you in on some secrets. P.S. anyone notice Tim's beard magazine the first time around?

Thank you to Andy for being willing to go in the plane one more time (I remember that being something mentioned when you guys showed some behind-the-scenes when this first came out)

I am LOVING these behind the scenes videos.

I did notice Tim's beard magazine the first time around, yeah. Found it quite amusing. However, over all the times I've rewatched this video over the years (gotta be dozens and dozens) I'd never noticed the "flight attendant" acrobats were sitting on magazines, that's a fun detail.

Also, I would like to formally compliment Andy on his A++ tablet tosses.

I watched this music video so many years ago and I still remember it from time to time because of much creativity it had that I didn’t know was possible. You guys did amazing!!!❤️

Some of the most genius music videos to have ever been created belong to OK GO. This one is one of my all time favourites. What a great insight to the video making process. Masters of art

All of your videos have always been incredibly creative, mind blowing, visually interesting, but Upside Down is straight up legendary. My favourite moment is the "it's like a freight train" line, when Damian LAUNCHES himself backwards! It's so visceral and powerful! Thanks for these spiritual successors to Pop-Up Video, they're super interesting! I can't wait to see what you guys have got brewing for the new album. Love from Canada!

The thing I like, besides *THE ENTIRE THING* about this video (the behind the scenes videos are awesome as well) is the fact that Damian goes "WOO!" as the song ends. You just don't hear it. I really want to hear it at the end every time I watch this video. :)

High school physics teacher here. My high school physics class watches this video every year. I use it to explain why the astronauts on the International Space Station are floating, even though the gravitational field on the ISS is nearly the same as on earth. Seeing the light go on in their eyes when they realize that orbiting astronauts are weightless (and feel no normal force) because they are in freefall (just like OK Go) is priceless!

I've always been a big fan of Andy yeeting the absolute hell out of that suitcase that landed on his chair right at the end, in desperation to save the take.

It’s impressive how seamless the cuts between the periods of weightlessness are

Two things: this has to be the most badass music video shoot of all time, and this series of shorts giving all kinds of info on the shooting of your videos is so cool.

This is the most deliriously joyful video ever. I've watched it dozens of times and it never fails to bring a lump to my throat - sheer, pointless silliness to the point of transcendent beauty.

Tim flies up to reveal that the flight attendants have become ... a galaxy. Then it all fills with stars, which go supernova. And then everyone sits down, it rains and it is clearly time for tea.

I'm sure that even though everyone was scared shitless while making this music video, it probably also felt really good once they had a successful take. They did something no one else had really done.

"Damian has a needle taped to his finger to pop the balloons" is someone the most terrifying part of all of this

I'm always skeptical, thinking I know all about the behind-the-scenes, from watching their BTS videos, but then I'm surprised. Great work, guys! Looking forward to the new music (and videos?) 😀

This video sent me down a 24hr rabbit hole when I first saw it a few years ago. I had never heard of OK Go
I then was so frustrated that I hadn’t heard of them & missed so many opportunities to see them live.

I remember the first day of this video came out and I had just discovered ok Go because of my friends in Oregon, I was so amazed at their just raw talent, and their videos were just so well done it was an era I'll never forget.
