3 Things to Avoid That Can Impact Development

Показать описание
These 3 simple mistakes can potentially delay a newborn's development, and they're quite common because they're so easy to overlook. This is absolutely no fault of any parent. Sometimes delays occur even without making these mistakes, so while you can do as much as possible to minimise risk, you should never feel bad or responsible if a delay does occur. Some are caused by simple habits that are a result of modern life, while others are simply a result of not spotting the warning signs as early as possible.

The purpose of this video is to help you feel a little more comfortable and confident in knowing some best practices you can follow to reduce the risk of developmental delays, as well as what to watch out for so you spot potential problems that could delay development early.

As always, I hope you find it helpful!

Thank you so much for posting this! I just started switching my 3.5 month old to front facing and I was wondering if I did it too soon. I'm so grateful for this info!

Regarding the noise: you don't necessarily need an app for your phone. Just place the loudspeaker right next to your ear and adjust the noise that it is not unpleasant to you. Then place the loudspeaker a couple of meters away from your child.
In general, take good care of your hearing and the hearing of your child. Damages to your sense of hearing are permanent and there is no medical cure for that.

To be honest, these practices were done in this decade but our parents never did that to us before. We were carried by our parents mostly facing inwards.

Thank you so much for sharing information & awareness about this.

How long is too long carrying a baby in a carrier before six months? I used to switch between face forwarding and back throughout our walks, that lasted from an hour to two. She crawls fine, attempts to stand occasionally - i just want to make sure I didn't cause her any unevident damage while being oblivious.

Does being in a bouncer (e.g. a BabyBjörn) prior to 6 months old also negatively impact hip development?

Hi Emma, I’m a bit worried as I held my 4 months old baby in this position 2-3 times for about 15-20 mins, each time. Should I be worried?

I'm visually impaired and concerned about using a sling/wrap. Any recommendations for good ones, and thank you for the informative videos.

What would your advice be on piercing the baby’s ears? I’m not with it at all but my husband keeps wanting to pierce our baby ears. She’s 5 months old. But I rather wait until she’s 1 years old or until she can ask for them herself.

Hi Emma, my 10 month old boy has started doing what we call the crocodile roll while we change him.
He refuses to lay on his back and let us do what needs to done, in particular applying rash cream has become impossible. We've tried giving him things to distract him but it only lasts a few seconds before we're both having to pin him down ( which we don't want to do) to change him.
Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I hold my baby towards me using just bare hands, with my baby's chest and stomach resting against my chest. Is that alright?
My baby gives off this weird sound like moaning when feeding and sometimes while sleeping. Should I be worried?

Hey Emma! About the hip issues with forward facing carrying - does this also apply to jumpers and activity tables that they sit in? Thank you for your wisdom!
