My PS4 keeps saying that I need a USB with the most recent Update. I saved it to my USB but when I connect it to the PS4 it says that it can't find the update file.

Edit2 ok so alot of people have being asking me how to fix it now what worked for me is rebuild data and option 6 but you should always try every option if none of the options work send your ps4 to repair if that doesnt fix it you may have a faulty system and should get a new console

I held a funeral for my PlayStation will all the boys because mine told me to download the update and I followed all the rules and it restarted the loop so it’s been buried in my back garden with a gravestone and some flower that we tried to grow but they died

For those who’s PS4 doesn’t work after trying all the options, even the factory reset, and don’t feel like spending all the money to buy another PS4 just buy another hard drive and replace it. Worked for me because my old one was corrupted. I’ve had this PS4 last me ever since it came out and it just started doing this problem.

It’s because the ps5 is coming out lol. I’ve been trying to fix mine for an hour now. I can’t even get the menu screen for safe mode

Finally managed to fix this problem, the only way that worked was to initialise the PS4, once it initialised it reset my PS4 so brand new basically, it also set all the settings to default. It gives the option to download version 6.72 onto a USB which I did, then it said something like ‘this will no all users, ’ I know what your thinking, it won’t completely delete your user off PSN, it basically just signs you out (then I signed back in) now you then can also log back into your PSN and everything like (your friends, community’s, trophies) are still there. All you have to do is redownload all your games that had previously installed which can be annoying I know but it’s worth it. Now my PS4 is fixed, hope this helped some of you guys fix your problem :)

I've done all of these things and did the factory reset as well, then was able to reinstall all my games and plug-in all my info and then it happened again, with the looping, I don't know what else I should be doing.. It's annoying! should I just get a new one?

I got stuck in the loop after trying to install the latest update for COD. It was getting stuck on 27% of the storage check and kept asking me to install an update from a USB stick. I entered Safe Mode and used the 3rd option to install the update but not from a USB but it did not fix anything. I then apllied your first suggestion and it worked perfectly without losing any saved data. So if anyone has the same issue, try rebuilding the database before you reinstall everything from scratch!

i dont normally comment, but this video saved me, I was stuck in this reinstallation update loop. it was a nightmare bc my ps4 wasnt reading updated software on the usb i was using. but once initialized the ps4 it restarted, this has taken me like 3 hrs and this video helped in under 3 min, thank you very much !

This is not a loop. I’m literally stuck in a loop of initialization. Going to step of setting up regional clock and power save options then going back to the very beginning of the setup process
