Actually, I was a teacher from 2004-2020 (I'm Gen X) and my first question would be "Who is your son?" Because by the end of the day, I'd dealt with so many little smart asses, having some parent come in about their kid would have been like, "And which one is yours? Joseph? I've got three Josephs, is it the tall one, the short one, or the one with the skateboard?"

The key difference with Gen X is that we actually had to be relational. We were the latchkey kids. We roam the neighborhood until the night lamp came on. We had to know our neighbors, so we pretty much got to know just about everyone in the neighborhood. I cannot forget the bike trips to the "candylady" with the neighborhood kids. Our parents didn't play, if you got in trouble you were pretty much guilty until proven innocent. 😂

As a child of greatest generation parents, their approach to dealing with me was somewhat different, after a complain from the teacher about my behavior. They wisely took the position I was guilty until I was proven innocent. Ouch!!
