This dead-ass happened to me in 6th grade. I'm Gen-X, my parents are Boomers. Didn't know Mr. Leonard Thompson used to play football in Highschool w/my pops. That call he made to my parents was so slick that 30yrs later I still respect it❤

That belt's comin' off for the whoopin'. Seriously though. I once called a parent and she told me, "He's my problem at home; he's your problem at school." And hung up the phone. I took note not to waste my time calling that family again, and I saw my student in a new light and with greater love. A parent who views the blessing of a child as a problem is "the problem". Don't have 'em if you don't want 'em.

Gen X here. I worked with at risk youth for two decades and only had one incident with a very large an aggressive young lady. The moment she stood up out her seat, I called 911. The kids thought I was calling the police on her so I put the operator on speaker and had her explain why I had the right to defend myself. I laughed when operator said “Now I can’t guarantee you will keep your job but you can definitely defend yourself” 😂

I gave the student an opportunity to think about her choices and she got quiet pretty quickly.

Boomer here. I did Student Teaching many moons ago (the teacher put me in charge so that she could go across the way and drink). I had one kid who was a star basketball player, so he thought that he didn't have to work in my class. We sat down after class and he very quickly learned that I meant business (I told him that if he didn't do well on the tests that I would grade him accordingly; I could not care less about his prowess in basketball (gave him a few stats regarding how many people actually make it to the NBA), and that if he wanted to stay on the team, he'd better start studying. He said, "Ms. Brown, you sound like my Grandmother." I replied "Good. I know who to call if you don't start cracking the books." His grades shot up after that. His grandmother (who I knew) actually called me to thank me.

I got a call from my son's high school teacher that he'd ditched class. When he got home, I told him if he ever ditched again, I would go with him to his classes every day for a week. . . After I went to Goodwill and bought the most grandma, uncool outfits I could find for me to wear every day. He was terrified and never ditched again. Gen X knows how to roll.

I’ll never forget when my older brother yelled at the teacher during class. She called my dad and he was up there in 5 minutes and whipped his A$$ in front of the whole class!! I watched laughing with the rest of the kids, because he was so disrespectful. Gosh the 90s 🥹

Single parent of male child. a bad report from teacher regarding my son DISRESPECTING his teacher (with his friends). I came up to the school. I spoke with my son and i spoke with his friends about their DISRESPECT towards the teacher. (I Knew the parents of all my son's friends) THEY ALL SELF-CORRECTED.
