Показать описание
SCP 096 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as Shy Guy.

SCP-096 is a humanoid creature measuring approximately 2.38 meters in height.
SCP096 is normally extremely docile. However, when someone views SCP-096's face, whether it be directly, via video recording, or even a photograph, it will enter a stage of considerable emotional distress. SCP-096 will cover its face with its hands and begin screaming, crying, and babbling incoherently. Approximately one (1) to two (2) minutes after the first viewing, SCP-096 will begin running to the person who viewed its face and proceed to kill the person.

The shy guy was a normal man that was bitten by a radioactive socially awkward anxious spider

Personally I love the Pattern Screamer theory, or something along those lines (5:27). 096's face is completely nonexistent, but the human mind fills in the blanks. 096 can psychically sense this response, and cannot stand it... 096 would rather be _entirely_ nonexistent.

EDIT: People would always perceive the _same_ face because of some universal trait hidden deep in the human psyche.

I’d imagine the creator (the actual wiki creator) of 096 laughing at us as we foolishly try to guess what his origin is in all these advanced and complicated ways, only for them to say that he’s just a normal anomalous creature who popped into existence and just doesn’t like being looked at.

The Scarlet King theory is cool, since two his potential children, SCP-682 and SCP-096, are both embodiments of emotions. 682 is pure hatred, as was in that story about an AI that was created to kill 682, considered rage and hate given form. Shy Guy could be an embodiment of fear, shyness, shame or something else

The Shy Guy is actually a part of E-6810-9B, and is an accidental creation of a demon, which was horrified so much by it, that it was sent to another dimension and enters a fit of rage whenever someone sees it's face, reminding it of it's master's reaction

I always find pattern screamers interesting. Seems to lend well to the actions of the shy guy.

12:39 I have a question, what if they aren't inconvenienced by their looks? One of the most recent escapes of 096 is caused by a guy looking at four pixels of him. Surely he didn't say, "Those four pixels are really ugly."

my own theory is he is what was left of the wendigo after the wendigo skull was removed, thus the "human" remorse, and limiting the urge to kill, the malice, and the hunger to those who see the remains of his face. the pattern screamer theory is interesting but descriptions of the shy guy match whereas a pattern screamers description would change based on who was trying to see a face. the mask is eliminated by me due to location, why adapt for extreme cold if not needed, and the mask shows interest in him but not self possessiveness (ie that's my old body, give it back)

I feel that some of the most popular SCPs exist as reflections of particular concepts that plague humanity. 682 represents the nature of hatred, 049 may be hubris, and 173 fits in as the concept of vanity. Going with this theme, SCP embodies the idea of insecurity, the self-destructive emotion that makes us lash out at others and tear down the world around us just to cope with our own weakness. It may not have been the original intent of the author, but it makes a strange amount of sense.

the amount of plausible theories you could come up with for the shy guys origins is insane. just from the idea of not wanting its face to be seen, you wouldnt expect too many theories, seems rather simple. just truly goes to show not only how amazing and well written the lore is but how dedicated and talented the fan base is too. i’m so glad i found scps, and it’s all because of you guys, thank you!!!

About the Plague Doctor one, I had a thought that Shy Guy could've been SCP-049 attempting a more complex creation/a creation period. But when Shy Guy "malfunctioned", the Plague Doctor probably deemed it as a failure and never got the motivation to make another complex thing, opting for simple zombies.

Well I’m pretty psyched to see some shy guy theories.

I prefer SCP's with a origin inside actual folktales.

The 049 theory is pretty interesting, I'm also curious about blind d-class interactions with shy guy, that'd be pretty cool to watch

The mountain king one is my favourite. I just find it so tragic and horrifying to think that the mountaineer was just trapped on a mountain constantly getting tortured by the creature although he couldnt die or escape. I know in his scp story he doesn't really so this kind of thing but he is an scp, so it is possible that he has powers the foundation wouldn't know about in case this unique situation occurred

What if he's just a tall guy with bad anxiety issues?

Everything about 096 screams a curse by the Greek gods.
So in The SCP universe he was probably just cursed by a god or a very powerful reality warper.

Honestly, my favorite is the Scarlet King theory. He may not have any inherent malice, due to his low intelligence, but he is an agent of chaos in some way. While his actions can be predicable in how they start, the SCP foundation can only do damage control once it does. In addition, his crying and wailing may be similar to how the hard to destroy reptile hates his own life as much as he does all other living things: The shy guy is the chaotic embodiment of anxiety, while the hard to destroy reptile is the embodiment of hatred. Both nigh unstoppable and unkillable regenerative beasts.

Here’s my theory. The shy guy was part of a nomadic group that lived in the mountains. He had significant facial deformities, hence the rage state’s cause. He was teased and bullied for this, and he sought help through the occult. He wrought upon himself a change that lended him incredible strength and speed. He just wanted to get back at those who teased him about his face, but instead annihilated all of the people who saw his face, the entirety of the group.

I think that shy guy was a normal person born very long ago, until some very strong anomalous magic (possibly from the scarlet king) cursed him to where he became very deformed and strong. The magic cursed him so that if anyone ever saw his face, rather through picture, or eye to eye, he would be forced to rip them apart. The shy guy obviously not wanting to do this, fled to the mountains to try and protect anybody from him. I think this makes since because he doesn't seem to want to hurt anybody and seems like he would be nice if it wasn't for being forced to kill anyone or anything that sees he's face. We know he doesn't want to hurt anybody because he cries before, and after he is about to attack, pleading with the magic to not have to kill them, but it is useless and he is forced to.
