SCP-096 Sad Origin Story

Dr Bob brings you SCP Foundation Euclid Class object, SCP-096 The Shy Guy Animation.

SCP 096 is a humanoid creature measuring approximately 2.38 meters in height. Subject shows very little muscle mass, with preliminary analysis of body mass suggesting mild malnutrition.

SCP096 is normally extremely docile, with pressure sensors inside its cell indicating it spends most of the day pacing by the eastern wall. However, when someone views SCP-096's face, whether it be directly, via video recording, or even a photograph, it will enter a stage of considerable emotional distress. SCP-096 will cover its face with its hands and begin screaming, crying, and babbling incoherently. Approximately one (1) to two (2) minutes after the first viewing, SCP-096 will begin running to the person who viewed its face.

I knew SCP-096 was an psychologically tormented man, but I never expected him to kill people because he hallucinates his surroundings as the mountain he was on and the people who see him as the entity that ruined his life which was SCP-1529: King of the Mountain.

I mean, this makes a lot of sense of why 096's skeleton can't be destroyed, if you go by this origin story the Shy Guy is basically cursed to be this way, his bones became unbreakable so that he can never be broken by climbing. Very good story.

I thought I'd see the story of how the SCP found the Shy Guy but instead I just witnessed one of the best origins stories. Implying that the King of the Mountain is the reason of the Shy Guy's existence is just incredible

He’s not a monster he’s not even evil. He’s just misunderstood. A poor human. Sucumed to the power of the king of the mountain deforming him to the point of beyond recognition. He just wants a friend. He just wants to be normal again.

So, the king of the mountain is shockingly powerful it seems. I like this backstory, it adds a lot of intrigue to the king, and while it takes away the mystery of 096, it opens the door to other horrible SCP's being created by the king of the mountain.

I never had sympathy for 096 but after learning that he was once a helpless human I feel really bad for him now

At first I thought that the red ring around people that look at you while you are playing as 096 in SCP:SL was to track them, because of 096’s ability to know exactly where someone who looked at it is, but i think it makes more sense that it knows this out of hatred towards the King, wanting to ruthlessly hunt down anyone that looked at it with those orange glowing eyes that it hallucinated and thought were there in place of the person’s actual eyes

096 (or Sheldon as I like to call him. Shy Guy - Sh eldon) is terrifying, but I'd also want to comfort him. Maybe if I kept my eyes shut, and blindfolded (just in case), and give him a hug?
This origin story is far darker than another one I've heard; a child who has a strangely shaped head being bullied, and eventually running away seeking absolute solitude.

I honestly just feel sorry for the creature. When photographed by the Desire Camera. The picture that came out was of 096's cell but with the creature nowhere to be seen. It seems all the creature wants is just to disappear. To no longer exist. Poor thing.
