- Leaked information from Area51 or some other facilities and they tried to cover everything up with what we have.

- An attempt to mentally prepare masses of people for when or if they reveal similar types of information to the public

It may not be called SCP but there is almost certainly a separate branch of government that deals with all the anomalies and cryptids in the US.

Most famously was the time when in 1969 a local mountain boy (Dennis Martin) in a Appalachian town was abducted by what was reported to be "feral men"... Over the next few weeks, Green Beret and other local law enforcements went into the mountains to hunt these feral men and supposedly brought back like 20 bodies.
