I used to get traumatized whenever my mom goes to get an extra item and then the cashier lady just starts scanning items at light speed

I once was at Rewe, and as I struggled to pack the items into my shopping bag at half the speed the cashier was scanning them, I thought I'd make small talk and said "Wow, you are incredibly fast." She was like: "What are you talking about?"

I discovered 2 things that day:
1) The cashiers are supposed to be that fast
2) I'm not supposed to do small talk.

It’s a fact that every German city has at least one Ghetto Netto

Walking through the door to Netto feels like changing the year to 1970

You should have seen how it worked in Aldi 20 years ago. The cashiers didn't scan the items, but typed the item numbers, since this was faster than scanning. It was absolutely amazing.

You’re hired immediately at Aldi if you scan them fast and then throw them aside like you’re trying to toss them straight out of the store.

I love it when non-native germans explain german stuff. So accurate and funny.

That is so accurate🤣 in our Netto even the employees sometimes tell you to go to the Aldi next door, because they have the nicer stuff.

You're absolutely brilliant. I did my Lidl food shop yesterday and I went to self check out. Can't be dealing with this stress 😂😁

I worked at Netto when I was a student.
Minimum speed is 30 items per minute, measured from the first scan until you hit "Done".
As a newbie I had two weeks to get up to that speed or go back to stacking shelves.

It's the fact that you get in line knowing that the cash register is fast and whoever you're with forget something that's on the other side of the store the anxiety is next level 🤣

In Germany Aldi and also Lidl tend to have a kinda stressful work system. Everything needs to be done in a short period of time, which looks hectic to customers. Usually you start with a part time job and work your way up to a full time job. Also Aldi and Lidl pay more than other supermarkets

You're on fire 😂 These are so funny they get better and better 🤣
