Just a heads up for your viewers- thermostat housing cracks is a common thing and super easy fix with a $28 part and quick you-tube video, but make sure you order the redesigned beefier unit to avoid having the same problem down the road. They reinforced the plastic at the bend, so the difference is visible.

Also, for those who live in areas with bright hot sun, make sure to treat and protect the plastic cowl at the base of the windshield. Besides fade, it becomes brittle and cracks.

Door hinges fail and stop holding the door open. Ask my left lower leg how I know.

Still, it's actually been a great vehicle overall, and the only vehicle I've ever owned that I'm still in love with. At 7 years old, it's also the longest time I've ever kept a vehicle.

One last thing- from personal experience. Not all WK2’s are good or bad. Some owners get lucky, and have very little issues over very many miles, other owners aren't lucky at all and get one that has nothing but issues. That, my friend, IS a "Jeep Thing"

My WK2 has 112, 000 on it. 12 years old. Since new it’s needed 4 parts replaced:
- blower motor
- blend door actuator
- a/c condenser / trans oil cooler (1 part)
- windshield cowl (rubber strip)

The blower motor wasn’t dead, but like you said the pressure wasn’t strong enough it cool the rear, but once I replaced that, the car cools down really quick and the pressure is really strong. I bought the Mopar version on rock auto for $130. I change all fluids every 30k miles, alignment once per year, and filters once per year. Oil changes every 4, 000 on the dot or before with factory full synthetic oil (Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic, and I use MOPAR parts and fluids), except for shocks and brakes. PowerStop and KYB respectively for those. Love it.

You're my "hero of the day!" I saw a local ad for a "killer deal" on a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland just like yours. I owned a 1996 Grand Cherokee until 2021 when I sold it to a mechanic friend of mine. I miss it, and I wanted another, newer one. I was actually thinking of going to the dealership and driving this Jeep, and then I watched this video. I'm not sure I want "Jeep things" back in my life at this stage. I could just wait a year and buy a new one with a warranty. You may have saved me $20, 000 with your honest review. Owning a Grand Cherokee is like having a relationship with a beautiful but high-maintenance woman. When it's great it's great, but when it goes bad, it's really bad.

My 2014 grand Cherokee limited has 165k miles on it and runs like new. All cars have their issues if you dont take care of them. I had an upgraded oil cooler put on mine when the original started leaking at 145k. Your only going to read bad things on line so buy it if you like it take care of it and have fun!!

My 2014 JGC Overland 5.7L has been extremely reliable and a pleasure to drive and own. The radiator cap and a water pump are the only things that have been replaced in 145, 000kms.

New transfercase, new front and rear drive shaft, new rear diff, valve cover gaskets, pcv valves, thermostat, spark plugs, steering rack, power steering pump, rack and pinion, two collpased lifters among a few small things. I purchased a new GC Laredo 3.6 in February 2014, now have 116, 400 miles. The only issue I had was replacing the motor mounts. In 2021 we drove from florida to California and back. So I must be one of the lucky ones. I do keep up with the maintenance schedule.

LJ, I have a 2015 Grand Cherokee Laredo and have never experienced that transmission issue. I have had to replace my transmission mounts, oil filter housing (more preemptive to ensure the original plastic housing does not crack), rack and pinion and ignition coils and that is all. I have performed more but they have been for performance =, not repairs. I add an intake system, performance ignition coils and plugs, my brakes and a few others items but no issues with it. I truly enjoy it. My odometer is 134, 400 now (3/26/2023) and I purchased it at approx. 74k miles in 2020 at the very beginning of the virus.

Take care of your car and it will take care of you. Ive never owned a vehicle that didnt have issues and i never will. Ive always found it funny that people think its only certain brands with issues.

Our list of 2014 JGC Overland repairs: motor mounts, fuel pump, A/C vent actuator, oil cooler leak, O2 sensors, radiator, USB port replacement (broken again!), driver side door hinges, front pass seat belt buckle and one HID headlight bulb. Still love our Jeep.

We have a used 2020 Cherokee Upland and it is the bomb! Chrysler engine. 6cyl 3.6 engine. 9 gears! Gets good mileage in city and awesome mileage on the highway. It was 2 years old and had 32, 000 on it. It's been from midwest to east coast 3 times and back, and a few other minor trips of 400-500 miles. Only problem so far is a flat tire. We pay the dealer to keep it in top shape for safety and longevity. We love it.

I do my own work, I have a 2018 Grand Cherokee. Love it, but it is or rather CAN BE a pain in the ass. Word of advice on the brakes, get the mopar allen key for the unusual slide pins. I like the design, but even with a load of tools, nothing worked well. The right tool is ALWAYS the answer. Just did all 4 rotors and pads. Works great! Dont forget to go into the uconnect and put the car in "jack" mode if you have air ride like I do.

My 2015 grand cherokee laredo with a 3.6liter has 190, 000 on it. No big issues as of yet. Replacing brake pads and rear wheel bearings this next weekend. I also put a 2.5" rough country lift on it.

I just bought 2023 limited 4x4. Im crossing my fingers i didnt make the same mistake twice. I had a 2013 JGC at 47, 000 miles the thing died while driving it down I-5 in San diego with my small boys in the backseat. Had it fixed, same part went out again. It was a recall part too. Jeep wouldnt cover the second time because it was an after market part. After that everything started going to hell. I told myself id NEVER buy another jeep. Here i am, just bought another. Crossing my fingers.
