Slight mistake the 3rd one used rockets, not jets, giving it fast speeds but a 5 minute flight time and a tendency to explode .

The Me163 was rocket powered. It would rocket above the Allied bomber formations, then glide down shooting.

The Me 163 was not jet propelled, it was propelled by a rocket engine.

The Goliath was used to destroy enemy bridges, bunkers, and field installations. The Fritz X was actually successful in destroying a few Allied ships. Most notably the post-armistice Italian Flagship Roma.

The ME - 163 was NOT a jet, it was a liquid fueled rocket.

My Grandfather fought the Germans in France. I remember him saying you could throw German stick grenades much farther than American grenades. And he said the Tiger tank really scared him. He said whenever you saw one, every gun was blazing and they couldn't destroy them.

The ME-163 was a rocket fighter. It had about 5 minutes of operation.

The Fritz-X didn’t locate its target, it was manually controlled by a person on the plane it got dropped from.
It had a flare at the backend to be more easily spotted by the guy controlling it.

It basically was the first MCLOS (manual command to line of sight) weapon.

There were however plans to develop a variant that would target itself on enemy radar, by using the received radar-waves as the target point.
That would have been the first HARM weapon.

Correction about the Messerschmitt 163:

The Komet used a cold rocket engine, not a jet engine.
A jet engine operates on a very simple principle: Compress the air, add fuel to it, ignite the mixture, use the hot gas to proppel yourself.

A rocket engine has 2 fuels: An Oxidiser and liquid fuel (some Rockets use only 1 type of fuel like kerosene, for example the Energia Rocket.)

The Me163's cold rocket engine was different because the fuels that were used didn't produce any heat out of the gas formed from the 2 fuels combining.

Random tank fact: The Polish 7TP was the first tank ever to use a diesel engine.

The comet didn't have a jet engine. It was rocket propelled. It was actually faster than the jets of that day.

Fritz X was a radio control guided bomb. It got tracer flare active during the drop.
One bomber plane was droping it, while the other was circling high above, with a trained bomb guider onboard. That man observed bomb's tracer and guided it on target via radio signals.
After couple succesfull uses of that weapon, allied forces simply ware sending fighters after that particular bomber with a guider onboard, making him unable to guide the bomb onto the target.

The Me-163 could reach a speed of 720kph (450mph) in a climb and a never exceed speed of 900kph (560mph). It could never do 700 mph.
The Fritz-X did NOT have any sensors to locate it's target. It had a radio receiver to get the commands from the bombardier in the carrier plane, a Dornier Do-217. The bomb had a flare in it's tail so the bombardier could see it and guide it to it's target, typically a warship. The advantage was that you had a guided weapon. The disadvantage was that the carrier plane had to maintain a straight heading after release, to allow the bombardier to keep seeing the bomb as it fell.

The Fritz X had to be dropped at a lower altitude so the controller inside the bomber could see the tracking flare. The bomber had to circle overhead so was targeted by heavy AAA fire. The USAAF developed one that was dropped at high altitude by B-24's. It was used to hit bridges so was dropped while the bomber was aligned with the bridge so the controller only had to make right and left adjustments to hit it. The USAAF also designed a glide bomb called BAT that was dropped by B-24'S flying at high altitude 20 miles away from the target. The controller locked those into a stationary target before being released with a rocket engine kicking on to raise its speed so the wings could provide more lift as it silently glided towards the target. Both were used in the Pacific Theater since the Japanese pilots in China avoided the heavily armed B-24'S and the IJN vessels at anchor in ports were easy targets.

The komet was NOT A jet. Jets are air breathing engines. The komet used 2 liquid propellants (Z-STOFF and T-STOFF) to fuel the rocket booster. It had enough fuel to take off, run 2 passes in a figure 8 pattern and then had to glide back to the air field. It was incredible dangerous to operate and refuel as the fuel it used was incredibly reactive together but still very dangerous when separate. such as the T-STOFF literally melting the pilot or refueling crew when it leaked.

Last line spot on: “unbelievable “. ME 163 was not a jet. It used a rocket engine. Jets have intakes. This was no jet

Fritz X was kind of successful: it sunk modern Italian battleship Roma, caused heavy damage to another one. Also, it heavily damaged British battleship Warspite and damaged a few US cruisers.

Knew about all 3, so did the allies and the 163 was a piloted rocket
