The American soldier says this without knowing that the secret weapons they possess are so well secreted that he doesn’t even know about them!

I think you'd have to call the atomic bomb the ultimate secret weapon and wonder weapon.

If the normal Infantryman know about it, it is not secret weapon any more.

US Infantryman: What’s our secret weapon anyway?
John Lee: Do you know how hard it is to get millions of tons of bacon from Kansas to the Middle of France?

Guess those infantryman were in a big shock for themselves when the US dropped the sun on Japan.

US GI: "Why don't we have any secret weapons?"

US Government: "Well if I told you they wouldn't be very secret, now would they?"

The best secret weapons are those no one knows about. The fact that the success of British night fighters was attributed to the pilots eating carrots or that Ultra was secret until 1974 were the best secret weapons.

If you are an american GI at the bulge, and you cannot appreciate that YOUR entire army moved across the sea, marched across France, is better supplied and al your equipment is shinny and new...you don't need a "secret weapon", you need eye glasses.

Understanding the limitations of your own wargear is important. The bazooka, semi-automatic rifles, and gyro-stabilisation in tanks were all powerful tools, but the Allies didn't expect any of them to win the war alone

Fun fact: people focus for obvious reasons on various German Wunderwaffe projects as they really fuel imagination with lots of possible what if scenarios.

However, come to think of it it was the Allies who have come up with quite a few of Wunderwaffen that actually worked.
ASDIC as an active way to search for the submarines.
Colossus and whole of the Bletchley Park.
Radar small enough to be carried on board of a plane.
Snorkel ( it was a Dutch invention, taken over by the Germans ).
Atom bomb.
B-29.
Proximity Fuze.
Gloster Meteor.
And there was more.

“Why don’t we have secret weapons?”

Because our secret weapons actually worked and just became weapons

The Allies most important 'Wonderweapon' was US Industrial Capacity ...

Bletchley Park codebreakers. "Are we a joke to you?"

The allies' wonder weapons were boring and effective: radar, proximity fuses, asdic, mulberries, etc. The axis' wonder weapons were oh so sexy, but ineffective.

That’s weird. Because the Navy guys in the Pacific could mostly quote day and time that their ship started loading the VT Secret Weapons. They knew and understood all of the advances in technology that were rapidly making a difference in their lives. And making the enemies lives much worse. But the Pacific was much more a war of overt technology than Europe. In Europe the allied soldiers biggest risk was not enemy air attack. It was his artillery. And other than better more precise bombing, with the infantry did not really see the nuances of, most anti artillery actions were the old fashioned way of the foot soldier.

It’s actually kind of shocking just how much your entire method of warfare changed if you were on a U.S. Navy warship from 1942 to 1944. The lead in technology was just staggering. New Radars, new shells, new anti-sub weapons, new torpedoes, and new airplanes. And what airplanes they were. But to the Army grunt that hit England or North Africa in ‘42, and landed on the beaches of Normandy. Nobody was changing out their gear every 6 months. They mostly fought the war with what they were given. Never quite realizing that compared to what had been happening in Europe since ‘39, they were the Secret Weapons.

In (US) football, there's a saying: When you get to the end zone, act like you've been there before.

In war, you could say: "When you get to the battlefield, act like your secret weapons aren't even a big deal.

"Why don't we have any secret weapons?"
"We do."
"How come I've never heard of any of them then?"
"Because then they wouldn't be secret."

Wouldn't be much of a secret weapon if Pvt. Blabbermouth knew of it.

I heard the same story on the gun stabilization mechanism on the M4 Sherman - it was so secret that most tankers were never told about them and didn't realize it was there.
