I love HG/SS, I’m surprised it didn’t sell as well as I thought it did.

Emerald was such a hit. Shame that 3rd versions didn’t sell all that well, the after game island or whatever it was in emerald had me occupied for years as a little kid. I’d always get dragged around (shopping mostly, but sometimes to work) and battle factory was favorite. The fact that you get to use Pokémon that aren’t normally available and the fact that they’re all leveled up with different move sets is so cool.

Maybe I’m just reminiscing about my childhood. Emerald 4 life

Hard to believe that Sword/Shield passed over Silver/Gold as the 2nd most sold PKMN game of all time.

That 6.5 million figure for Legends Arceus is literally only the first 7 days sales. that number was posted at the beginning of February i would really like to see where the sales might be now a couple more months down the road.

The evolution of this saga is incredible. The fact that the less sold game owns more than 6 million copies and it’s a third version... wow

Of course, GS is gonna stay up there for too long. Imagine playing the main game with the previous map and its new contents as post game. Still amazes me after so long.

I am visibly confused as to why HGSS was classified as a gbc game

I had no idea that Sword and Shield was so popular! I guess it was all the hype around them being the the first new generation on the switch..

Emerald/Ruby/Sapphire will always be the best imo :)

I started playing crystal version again. The extra unown secrets, the insanely hard battle tower, the only way to get ho oh is by catching all 3 legendary dogs, the suicune story. The game hit all the great spots and was just a bit better with all its animation.

*Me when Sword and Shield is quickly rising to the top*

"No, stop, what are you doing? What are you doing??"

Crystal, Emerald, and Heart Gold will always be my favorites. Not the biggest fan of the Sinnoh games but I really did enjoy Platinum as well. Just wish I picked Torterra over Infernape, not that I didn't develop a love for him as well.

People are surprised about how well Sword and Shield sold, but I think they sold so well because they were on the Switch, which was way more popular of a console than the 3DS was, and they sold more than the DS games because they were post-Pokémon Go, which was a huge boost for the franchise.

These also apply to Legends Arceus, and it's the most unique main series Pokémon game to date (if it counts as main series) so I wouldn't be surprised if it outsells Sword and Shield in a couple of years.

I see why they stopped making the third game in each gen after those sales performances. A shame really, I like how it brought both stories together and refined the gameplay, fixed the bugs etc. Emerald was my fav so maybe I have a slight soft spot

People complained about pokemon sword and shield and said they would never buy it, but then end up with it as the second most sold game

You kids will never understand how big of a deal Red/Blue were. Not just as games, but on a cultural level. Pokemania was real, and the entire vibe and aesthetic around it was so different from what it is today. You really had to have been there.

As someone who was born in 1987 and at a ripe age for Red and Blue, I can safely say the best experience I've had since is Pokemon Arceus. Excited for Scarlet and Violet.

Crazy how the literal best games in the franchise, emerald, platinum, HGSS, and BW2 are all at the bottom

I can't believe crystal sold the least, it's easily one of the best games

Hopefully scarlet and violet will have better single player content than sword and shield. Galar is definitely the best for multiplayer but that doesn’t really matter because all Pokémon games are great multiplayer games

I don't get why people still believe Sword/Shield isn't good enough. It sold so many copies in 2 years and brought the best multi-player function that wasn't pvp. There are a lot of casual fans who ignores competitive, which means the games before SwSh had no repeatable end-game.

Casual players want to play with their friends but not fight against each other to see who has the better EVs, IVs, and gimmicks.
