- for red and blue, I used US 10-year sales since it wouldn't make sense to compare red and blue sales in japan (yes I didn't make that clear in the video, my b)
- for gold and silver, I used 1st year sales in japan since that's all I could find
- for everything else, I used 1st week sales in japan since that's all that was published (US doesn't share sales numbers between versions for all games)

also i'm thinkin of getting pokemon scarlet since the consensus already seems to be drifting toward violet, i'm not like other poketubers...

I remember going to Gamestop and buying my copy of Pokemon Black or White, and when I was there the cashier was telling me that several people were complaining that they got the wrong games because with the preorder they only knew the name not the actual box art! So I wonder if that effected the results for the games sales.

I felt personally attacked about the Sun and Moon bit T^T I had a whole phase where I just loved w all my heart Lunala, such a pretty color palette. Interesting to see majority of the games I bought were the least popular.

Some of these really surprised me. I always saw Sapphire as the less popular one (literally no one I knew had it when I was growing up, like 7 different friends with ruby).

Reshiram is a better design, unfortunately. Even though they’re both solid colors, Reshiram being white lets the detailing and texture come through a lot better than Zekrom’s black on black on black.

The more popular ones are always the ones that are bluish in color, with few exceptions. Surprisingly I followed the trend complete to the T, choosing the bluish version every time except for Sun and Moon

i choose moon because i was working full time so the reverse day night cycle appealed to me more lol
but i did get both, sun for weekends, moon for work days.

On most polls I've seen people have always picked Zekrom over Reshiram. I feel like the swapped color theme with the box art legendaries had something to do with the sales. Because a lot of people might've picked black thinking they were getting Zekrom.

This makes me wonder how large the gap is between copies of Red/Blue Rescue Team and Explorers of Time/Darkness that were sold.

I think black sold more because people thought they'd be getting Zekrom in that one but didn't realize the color swap. I'm genuinely surprised that I got the unpopular ones though. Also I feel personally attacked when you said Moon was for emo kids. I bought Ultra Moon cause I thought it'd go nice with the vibe it was giving off and I liked Lunala since it was a bat and I like Batman.
