I was in the second row in 1994 when he played Varner at the US Open and, if I remember correctly, Nick hooked him on the 1-ball in the first or second rack. Efren got up, kicked the 1 in the side and ran out, never once looking surprised or excited. It was like “I’ve done this a million times”. Unreal to watch him back then.

i read most of the comments and i just want to thank everyone who recognize efren reyes as the greatest of all time...i think its true that most of his prime were not seen by the world..because u.s is the mecca of pool, the world only saw efren when he was already in his 40s.. they missed his 20s and 30s

He is the best because he was and is great at every game, literally. 9 ball, 8 ball, straight pool, one pocket, banks, three cushion billiards, 15 ball rotation. I haven't seen him play much 10 ball, but I have to assume that as well
