Not all TOP or Popular universities are worth the hype!

Today I want to highlight unis I am wary of for 2 reasons.

For those who are new here: I did my MS for free in UIUC and dropped out of MBA at NYU. I have worked on Wall Street and been mentoring study abroad aspirants in India, Asia, Middle East and US for more than a decade. Doing this for fun and positive energy 🤩

We will cover:
00:00 Introduction
01:45 Universities that don't justify their high cost
06:15 Universities with unsafe campuses

Also watch:

Oh my, as an UCLA graduate normally I would be happy to hear people complaining about USC… but let’s be objective here, USC is a private school (higher tuition) with lower admission criteria (= higher acceptance rate). You can’t just assume UCLA will also take you if USC accepted you. And the USC campus itself is safe, unless you decide to go out of campus at 2’o clock in the morning, then you have no one to blame but yourself. And UC Berkley is NOT in Oakland. Berkely is Berkely, Oakland is Oakland.

I spent 2 years at University of Kentucky, then transferred to USC. My experience at USC was a culture shock, because the staff and my fellow students were much less friendly. Lots of snobs at USC. For graduate school I returned to he University of Kentucky.

Thanks for the recommendations. The experience of a few students cannot be a strong reason for deciding that a university is not good.

Agree that some universities are treating international masters students as a source of cash and have reduced the quality and difficulty levels of education in USA. This happened in Canada and led to the creation of degreed Indian students who could not get jobs

You missed to tell the main reason why people apply to ASU - That being a state university 100% tuition reimbursement is promised if you get a TA position over there. But seeing the sheer size of intake even that seems impossible

The Harvards and Princetons of course have high price tags. But they have huge endowments, which can support student aid. Even middle class students get major financial aid.

Johns Hopkins (Baltimore), Washington U. St Louis, U.Chicago (Hyde Park), etc have been in unsafe areas for decades. However some of these colleges have taken aggressive steps to keep their students safe at least in and around the campus area.

Being a US Comp science MS graduated working professional for many years, one does not get hired based on the U. S. college you are graduating. Get good knowledge, training in India which is very affordable and some paid/unpaid Internships. These internships shows your future employer the practical experience you have. Get a U. S degree in any STEM areas and do well in challenging projects. First job is always difficult to get whether you are citizen or international student. Good luck. India has the best education and training programs!!🙏🏼

If you are personable and attend a school like Harvard, you will meet people that are connected to deep power structures in the US. This is possible in Annapolis, West Point, Air Force Academy, as well (if you see the military as your future). To a certain extent, it is not what you know, it's who you know PLUS what you know.

Stoney Brook is not in Hoboken. Stevens is in Hoboken. Stoney Brook is in Stoney Brook, Long Island.

I went to USC, I agree with your take on it, lots of people from the engineering school struggled. I went to Marshall, it was great, not a lot of problem searching for internships and then for jobs I guess everybody is on their own. The safety issue at USC is not really a thing as long as you stay within the known safe boundaries.

UC Berkeley is not in downtown Oakland. It’s not even in Oakland at all. There may be some homeless people around, but it’s not considered unsafe.

Graduated Stony Brook a long time ago - back when it was called the "Bridge to Nowhere" for the half completed bridge that extended from the Student Union - rumor had it construction was halted because it was heading straight for the women's room at the library.

Please create new videos on must-apply/ good ROI universities for the 2025 intake, including multiple courses for freshers, and job-friendly programs, especially for 12+ months (including internships).

I graduated from USC. It was a remarkable experience I would recommend. I’m very surprised to hear your comment.

The methodology isn't very clear aside from the inference of anecdotally based information. There are many national universities that are potentially far more dangerous ie Illinois Institute of Technology and Tulane are but two examples. As far as ROI, the cost of college in the U.S. is on average ridiculously expensive. I don't know anything about the universities in India but it might be wise to study for an undergraduate degree in India and come to the US for graduate school.

This video has a lot of inaccurate information. Being depressed after graduation has nothing to do with the school you went to and a lot of other schools that are less prestigious charge the same fees for out of state or international students as top US schools. A lot of schools offer scholarships and grants so the price quoted is not accurate either. The level of attention students get depends of the school size. If you want a lot of 1:1 attention apply to a small school which will most likely be located in a remote location with not much to do on campus and few internship opportunities. The level of experience and job landed also depends on the person. If you do a research of alumni networks from different schools you’ll notice that a lot of successful people did not come from a prestigious school. The fact that your client was unhappy at the University of Maryland doesn’t mean that the program is not worth applying. Every state requires a green card, EAD or H1B to be employed, period. All schools in US follow the same 3 year STEM program after graduation, so that part is misinformation. The job market for IT jobs is bad because of AI not the state or the school. Every urban school has a higher risk on campus, and the number of crime incidents on campus also depends on school size. You can’t compare OSUs 60 k campus to a small school of 2k in a rural area. It’s crime per capita not crime rate in general. The worst part of this video is the narrative “please reconsider …please don’t go” 😂. Very biased and pushy. Highly recommend to read students’ feedback and follow alumni networks on Linkedin and YouTube. Get in touch with students that attend the school you are interested in through Linkedin or social media. Listening to “pretend experts” will get you nowhere.
