2. It's someone with parents who bought them their way in.
3. It's someone who was predominantly focused with other spheres of their life (Sports, Handling Poverty, Business, Charity Work) and got recognized for it.
4. It's a combination of one of the above to varying lesser degrees.

I understand that there have been scandals where people were buying themselves into prestigious colleges, but in nearly all those cases the students weren’t academically poor just average. What’s interesting about this is that for whatever reason they were admitted, it wasn’t because of money. While very rare it’s not unorthodox to see a few outliers with bad GPAs get into Ivy Leagues. This is because the student most likely showed tremendous accomplishments outside of class (ex: sports, entrepreneurship, leadership, etc.)
