Please Don't Write Your College Essays Like This

Here are some pretty bad topics to write your college essay about. Not that there inherently bad per say, but they are very commonly written about, which makes it harder to stand out. You certainly can still have success with these topics, but you'll need to approach things from a unique angle or perspective to let your personal voice really shine in your Common App.

just so everyone knows… number 4 fluctuantes. there’s nothing wrong with writing about your relationship with other people, but be sure the majority of the essay still focuses on you.

My college essay was about the limit of sin(1/x) approaching zero and how the fact it crosses an infinite amount of times whilst oscillating between 1 and -1 reminded me about how live has ups and downs and yet goes on.

It’s not that these are bad topics, it’s that they aren’t good topics unless used in a broader idea or context. For example, writing about moving houses would be a bad topic if you only wrote about the situation and its immediate effects, however it could be a good topic if you use it to illustrate how you had to learn to let go of the past, while still maintaining respect and fondness for past stages of your evolution.

I personally have wrote at least 75% of what I see that list and in each and everyone of my essays had come out pretty good because it’s not what you said is how you say it it could be repetitive but at the same time is still good because it is authentic. It is yours. So Don’t let nobody criticize your ideas with explanation. Just make sure to keep it authentic and interesting

Damn #3 was my college application essay. To be fair I got accepted into most of the T-20 schools. However, I do focus on a specific portion and I am very good at evoking emotions since I have a strong vocab for imagery
