In my country there's no such thing as "college essays" and I think they are kinda stupid anyway, what does it matter what I did during my 12 years of education? We were teenagers most of us just went home, did homework and played videogames, because of that system I imagine that some real talents were rejected just because they did nothing of note during those years, if you have to prove yourself then allow them to prove themselves while in college and not just deny them entry because of an essay, essays can't accurately access ones capacity or character.
