I notice lots & lots of birds in my back yard - start chirping way before full day light - and I found myself thinking - along the same lines.. Bc in the northern hemisphere- sumner, the sky starts to brighten before dawn - or - is THAT the dawn ? and the full sunrise the actual MORNING??

the darkest is definitely not at midnight but at exactly the half point of the night which would be around 2 (depending your time zone)
