The show establishes at numerous points that Bojack is an educated individual. He is constantly articulatly and precisely describing to others what they are inaccurate about. His issue is that he lacks the discipline to use his intelligence in a productive or constructive manner. He only uses it to tear down others or get himself out of trouble he didn't need to be in to begin with, like here.

I like how Bojack is lowkey pretty smart, like this Israel-Palestine answer, his reasoning about hating Sartre, that essay about the French revolution he didn't get enough time for, that comment he had about Stalin etc.
