Head trauma should never be ignored. This is incredibly sad. We watched AFV every Sunday after dinner at my moms house, thank you Bob for the memories! ☮️

This happened to me 3 years ago. I hit my cheek bone on a hard metal bar in June. It hurt so bad that I saw stars . Didn't give it much thought, but weeks later, I got a horrible headache over my left eye . And then whenever I was around bright lights I got an instant headache.Well, in August I got one of those headaches while in a Walmart with my sisters so we left to go home and on the way home I was trying to talk and my worlds were all gibberish I told my sisters just take me home and I'll take a nap and feel better luckly they took me to the hospital where I had surgery for a subdural hematoma from hitting my head way back in June .I know now I was fortunate to survive.

As someone whos had a head injury after a car wreck, it is vital you get medical attention. I was sent in for a MRI series, luckily it was minor and I had a rockin' headache for a day or two after. Still, im glad to have had it done..

Thank you Dr. Sanjay Gupta. My mother is a Registered ®️ Nurse so like you, she understands this. Whether it is a broken blood vessel (hemorrhaging) or hematoma, bleeding is bleeding & that needs to be checked out immediately.

Died the same way as Liam Nelson's wife did, back in 2009, while skiing! Poor Bob! 🥺

My husband pointed out that Sagat was pretty tall so bumping his head probably wasn't uncommon. Unfortunately he might have thought nothing of "just another bump".

After being brought by ambulance to the hospital ER, then leaving my dad on a gurney in the ER for four hours after he had a stroke, which he never recuperated from, it was determined that stroke victims need to be treated WITHIN AN HOUR to avoid irreversible brain damage. My dad never had a chance because they let him slowly bleed out for hours. He was a vegetable by the time they operated, then died from cardiac arrest 6 months later in an end of life nursing home .

Well Duh, anyone that has ever watched MASH knows you don't go to sleep with a head injury. Hawkeye explained it really well, during an entire episode about a head injury. At his age and being a comedian on TV, it is hard to believe he never saw that episode. Heck I can do a tracheotomy from watching MASH.

Sometimes simply flopping on the bed after a long day.. Hitting it on the headboard or bumping into a doorframe on the way to the bathroom..it doesn't have to be a huge bump.

I fell on the ice in 2015 and was alone, unconscious, for nearly an hour. Unfortunately, a brain injury doesn’t generally doesn’t give you a clear picture of what’s happened. I was unaware for days and it took a while to get medical attention. I ended up leaving my job within 2 months because my brain just couldn’t function normally anymore.

Without affordable universal health and treatment, nobody would want to check because it would be too expensive for a "bump to the head". Many people can't afford health insurance in the first place.

My hear goes out to his family and freinds, I had a TBI with a Concussion years ago but have been have symptoms of head trauma coming back. To anyone having symptoms of a head injury or past head iniury don't hold it off to see your doctor because having a new head injiury or past head injury should not be ignored you don't want to suffer though bad consequences like I have and are still coping through having a Head Injury. 🙏 RIP Bob Saget 😇 You are missed.

So what we have learnt from Dear Dear Bob Saget, is if we ever hit our head on something and we dont feel well i.e. nausea and some pain, we might want to lie down BUT that is the worst thing to do. Rather get someone to take us to a doctor, keep awake, until we have had chance to tell a doctor what happened. OR if really bad, get to a hospital emergency . Dear dear Bob, lesson learnt. It is heart-wrenching that we had to learn this lesson this way.

Like Liam Neeson's wife, in the ski accident. She thought she was fine.

So glad he 'splained this properly .. I used to assist in autopsies and would often see an elderly person who had developed an egg on the forehead after a bad fall which in turn caused an intercranial bleed on the distal side of the brain (coup contrecoup)

When I was a schoolboy our family and friends were going through a park when we came across a mother who held her 10 year old boy unconscious in her arms. She explained he fell on rocks and hit his head. My dad and friend took him straight to hospital where they immediately rushed him into surgery. It saved his life they said any longer and it wouldn't be good.

One thing I was curious about that was not addressed in this interview is: what is the difference between the diagnosis of this kind of head trauma versus a forced blunt object head trauma? Meaning, how do you tell the difference between self-inflicted versus someone hitting you?
