How to treat aphids - plant safe method using soap and water!
So, I did a little research online to figure out how to best treat my aphids and stop hurting my seedlings and plants. Looks like the best, safest, and easiest method is using 1 part liquid dish-washing soap to 100 parts of water - or basically, 1 tbsp to 1/4 gallon.
After a few days, it looks like the aphids are dying and the plants are doing MUCH BETTER!
Sharing with all of you so you can use this method if you'd like as well!

Here's my recommended sprayers I use:
2 Gallon Hand Pump Sprayer:

Hand Sprayer:

And I prefer this liquid soap:

Bob, be sure to spray the soil; also and the sides of the planting boxes as well. Dig up the soil a little with a teaspoon and spray again. Remove all diseased buds that don't look like they will recover in about two days or so after you spray. Some will recover, some wont. It always makes me laugh when I see my plants looking healthier the very next morning after being sprayed, as if they have breathed a sigh of relief from an intolerable burden!

In the old days my grandma used any dish liquid she had and sprayed her roses then threw the rest on the dirt and she had the most beautiful roses around.

Green Dawn is the anti bacterial hand soap and definitely not recommended for spraying on plants. The orginal Dawn (dishsoap) is what your suppose to use

I have an aphid infestation on my smooth oxeyes and I want to know if treating them now (kind of end of season) will prevent infestation next season. Any advice?

Can I spray that on my orange tree to control thrips considering that the tree is flowering now? Thanks

You also might want to mention the brand of soap, that being "Dawn"! Dawn, like no other soap on the market, has the ability to break down oil, which is what kills the aphids!

To get rid of aphids, you have to stop ants reaching your plants or climbing your trees. No ants, few or no aphids.

I use ladybugs, order them every year and release them into the petunias. I spray a heavily diluted mix of 7-up & water over them first. It makes their wings too sticky to fly for awhile and by the time they're able to fly away, they don't want to because they have plenty of food all around them. Works for them and me. Plus ladybugs are a cool little creature to watch.

I'm a new grower... Hypothetically, if I were to get rid of the ants, could I prevent the aphids? Since aphids depend on the ants to move them?

Soap and water if you want clean aphids to come back... if you want them dead, use Crop Control by Trifecta.
