I use a mixture of piano wire & banjo strings on my guitar. Never looked back. Also always remember to use a luthier knot when tying your strings.

I prefer Retro Strings from Martin 11-52 because of the old style monel nickle wound ..
Price is good and the sound is balanced .. However i use the normal Martin 11-52 uncoated on guitars that i use not that much ..
And on electric just Ernie ball Slinky Regular 10-46 because i change faster on Electric ..
On the strat i have the Diadario with a wounded G string, D'Addario EJ21 12-52 wound G set ..
Stuart got to test these Acoustic Martin Retro Monel Strings on playability, and the EJ21 12-52 wound G set on his strat .. I think you like it ..
