INTERNAL RAW on SONY! | This CHANGES EVERYTHING

You may or may not know but Sony just allowed us to convert internal files whether XAVC-HS or XAVC-SI into RAW files compatible with DaVinci Resolve using catalyst browse!

I know this works on the FX3, FX6, FX9
I think this works on the FX30 and A7IV from what I have heard.
Unfortunately does not work on A7RV

There have been lots of questions about Sony's other camera models:
the key information has been given by @makefilms4116: you need to record in Cine EI !
This means: if your camera is not capable of Cine EI, it will not work; this is the reason why A7S III, A7CR, A6700 will not work, but only cinema line models such as FX3 / FX30 (after conversion into an .mxf-container with ALL-I 10-Bit).
To be more accurate, it does work in all flavors of of "log-shooting", ie not only Cine EI / Cine EI Quick, but as well Log-Shooting with "flexible ISO" (NOT the normal "flexible ISO"). Even if I couldn't test it, this could mean that it will work as well for Vlogging-Line model ZV-E1, which has Log-shooting with flexible ISO, but no Cine-EI.
To be even more accurate, in BM DR forum I have seen that you need to shoot in S-Gamut.CINE3, but it wouldn't work with S-Gamut3 even if made in log-shooting / Cine-EI. As usual, Sony is totally pointless in informing us about all these

That's not RAW... The raw codec developed by Sony is X-OCN. It's only 10bit color depth.

You convert to XML? that doesnt make sense

Internal raw that's what she said

With a RAW workflow, is it still necessary to use CINE mode to change exposure distribution? MXF can be adjusted for exposure all the time in davinci

How is that "real" raw? It is still 10bits 422, same image, and with the normal non-raw workflow, you can also easily change WB and tint, etc, so i dont really get it, could you tell me if im wrong ?

so you said it works with A7IV. can i use my ninja V still to get raw or would it have to be internal only

I have an a7iv and tried this but when I uploaded to davinci the raw options were still greyed out, now someone mentioned about entering your camera make and also product id but did not see that option in catalyst browse

Where does he get 12 bit linear raw from? Is it not a 16 bit signal brought into 12 bit log, eliminating the nikon z6 and fs7 raw problem of not having enough code values to assign towards black?

So I tried and failed. I shot video using the HS mode on fx3. took in browse, converted to xcvc intra an xmf file. then took that into DaVinci and the camera raw option is still greyed out. what am I doing wrong..

Sorry probably a stupid question but when you run it through catalyst browser does it retranscode the footage or does it simply put the existing image (without recompressing it) inside a different container and add the metadata? Just looking to see if the file size inflates or stays about the same when dealing with limited hdd space.

Will this only work for XAVC S-I or also for XAVC-HS and XAVC-S?

Does it enhance the quality of the footage?

What file format do you have to use for the FX3 to record internal raw?
