I immediately suggested Floating Hotel for my library to get. I also am collecting the The Bone Season BB editions and I'm worried about how much the other books will break the bank. I also somehow have collected the regular hardcover editions...and I recently bought the paperback of the first one so I can annotate it. 😅 I have no chill. 👻

I read Mrs. March last year and I personally didn’t think it was very mystery/thriller-y. It read as lit fic to me. But there definitely is an element of “is this really happening or is she imagining things?” So you may still love it!

I'm still putting off starting the Red Rising series, because based on comments from both Becca and yourself, I feel like I'm going to fall in love with and then tragically lose some imaginary book friends on the journey. I don't think I'm emotionally ready for that at the moment 🙈.

I'm listening to Gideon the Ninth at the moment (props to Moira Quirk; 10/10 narration, no notes), and despite writing myself a cheat sheet of who's who from all the different houses, I'm entirely at sea - but absolutely loving it! I've never enjoyed being baffled so much. There's almost no exposition, and none of the characters have the complete picture, either, which I think helps to make it interesting rather than frustrating for me. I can completely understand why some people absolutely hate it.

Going to Scotland next month from the states - if you could recommend one bookstore that I must see, what would it be? I'll be all over the country so any answer is fair game. Unfortunately I'm coming just a bit too late for the lit festival in Ed :( but still want to have at least one good bookstore stop while I'm there :)

Unfortunately I wasn't a fan of the Floating Hotel. It did something with the narrative that I have found I don't like in books as it, for me, holds me at arms length and doesn't allow me to sink into a book. I hope you have better luck!

I work in publishing and sadly there is literally nothing you can do when your fullfillment center is doing a poor job. There is so much attached that you as a customer cannot see (contracts, costs) that make it almost impossible to switch you fullfillment center. The company I work for is also deeply dissatisfied with the quality of the fullfillment center but switching to another will take years and probably 7-figure costs. :( It really sucks.

Have you read Maurice by EM Forester? I got it from the library and I'm dying to try it. I need some queer joy after a Hobb book and the entire Illuminae Files trilogy. lol.
