it is so refreshing to see that I'm not the only one who puts each set of markers &/or pens in their own separate container. Whenever people come to my place and see all the different containers with different markers, they tell me that it's excessive and just to put them all together, and I'm like NOOOO, I just like to keep each set separate and organized. hey carrie! omg i envy the fact that you had the patience and attention span to write almost all day long, i rlly wanna try that sometime! and yeah, i've recently started putting a contents page on my journals (yes, journals *plural* xD) and i number my pages, then I mark which pages have the entries etc. that i often refer back to. i highly recommend it, cuz it's soooo helpful! <3

As far as a table of contents, recently I went through all of the journals I have filled up and made an excel spreadsheet with the journal number and the dates.

I love your videos! I’m an avid journal writer as well. Been writing since 1996 and have 136 journals and counting!

Instead of having a table of contents at the beginning, I wait until I'm about to write the very last entry in that journal, then on loose leaf paper, I index the entries by a title and the page number. It's a nice way to revisit and reminisce before I write the last entry, and it is wayyyy easier to find my favorite ones years down the line.

Alright, i have a table of contents and a cover for every journal, (the cover is usually just a picture I drew or a pamphlet that relates to what’s in the diary ie: I had my school play pamphlet as a cover) the cover for me says the day it starts to the day it ends like monday February 2nd- Saturday April 12th 2020 or whatever the day is, then on the table of contents I just have bulletpoints of everything that happened which is super helpful for when I’m trying to find a specific day/entry

Also a word of the wise: PUT YOUR COVER AND TABLE OF CONTENTS ON THE INSIDE COVER

I used to put the cover kn the front cover and the contents on the back cover which I don’t recommend because you move them around, shift them every which way and they end up ripping since they’re literally just taped on pieces of paper so do the inside cover, it really helps!
