Russian support for Ukraine war ‘eroding’

Former US Army vice chief of staff General Jack Keane says Russia’s support for the war in Ukraine is “eroding” given it’s President Vladimir Putin “doesn’t have much to show for it”.

Mr Keane said North Korea's coming into the war was the “most significant escalation” of the conflict since it had started.

“It hasn’t been a long-range missile, it hasn’t been a tank, it’s the fact that another nation-state with its troops … fighting on the side of Russia.

“The reality is he needs people … the Russian support for the war is eroding given its protracted and Putin doesn’t have much to show for it.”

Not that it matters that Russia tires of the war since the only people that matter are from the Moscow and St. Petersburg area. Fully 95% of casualties come from the provinces, but now that Russia has bled the provinces dry, they are moving to the big cities and only now as they are starting to pull people off the streets, prevent them from getting drivers licenses, etc... if they are not registered, are the Russians in general tired of the war.

Russia made in clear almost 3 years ago that foreign fighters (contractors/mercenaries) would not be given the same legal protections as Ukrainian soldiers if taken prisoner. They knew the risks if they went there.
