In the last couple of weeks there has been a photo of a letter circulating around on Instagram and Facebook and it appears to come from Florida Highway Patrol Bureau of Criminal Investigations. The letter says that almost 400 cars that were imported from Japan to the US, were imported illegally and fraudulently, and those cars will all have their titles revoked.

I don't understand why Florida and the Federal Government didn't just issue a statement saying that these vehicles are blacklisted and ineligible for a title and registration until they ARE 25 years old or if they are 25 years old NOW after this happened, They should be eligible at that time.

They crack down on cars harder than hard drugs, I don't get it..

They can sell them to people in Latin American countries where there are no traffic and emission laws. The enthusiasts over there would love to get their hands on many of these cars to mod and race them locally.

This kind of law regulation is the exact reason why car people need to get involved in politics and get laws that are unfair and stupid changed... get on it people.

The owners could sue the dealer then. It is the dealer that screwed their customers over.

So my question is. Anyone that has one of these cars, what are you going to do with it?
Personally I'd keep it anyway and trailer it. I would have paid way too much to get it here to just hand it over

So CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT against the importer owner/ companies. Sue them out of existence for damages done and money lost. Judge should easily rule in favor of the owners for millions of dollars.

I do agree on the fact that it is the importer's fault for importing cars that aren't legal yet, but I'd also say it is in-part the buyer's/owner of the car's fault for not doing their research in seeing if the cars are 25+ years old or not, and if so, if they are only a show and display car. I don't understand why buyers tend to not do their own research before purchasing an import, and when they actually have the car in their hands, they are surprised on why they get the car taken away from them. AND NO, I don't support the importers who illegally import vehicles though.

Damn… no more old GTRs :( I fucking hate what’s happening to US car culture.
As a side note COBB just discontinued support for E85 kits for their vehicles because of precedent set by CA Law. Tuners can’t even tune for your previously purchased e85 kit after the next month. Might persuade me to get out of my wrx and into a different platform.

OPTION 4: Buy a POS shell or parts car that's USDM, and "swap" everything over....or buy another JDM version of that car & use that new VIN.

Saying that there’s nothing they can do to make the cars street legal in the US just seems petty.

Coach did you say practice? Practice. Same cars on the road everywhere so why a change needed. Nothing but a car, it's not hurting anybody!
