*Cure Grace uses the Harvest Bottle to create a freaking lightsaber*

Cure Yell: Wait, that’s illegal.

No seriously, the Harvest Bottle got a huge buff in this episode compared to its debut use, while the Ice Bottle still proves to be useful by creating an icy mist to distract the opponent. Already, both bottles blows ALL of the Star Princess Pens out of the water. Apart from that, another main highlight in this episode is Rabirin, proving one again why she’s likely one of the better fairies in recent seasons, noted the mistake she was making during battle and Nodoka actually realizing it. A good Pink Cure character moment. While it’s an oldie and I wouldn’t call it the best (Maybe they are just building it up for next episode), it’s at least done right and anyone who is done with Pink Cures repeating their mistakes just to get an applause for it, especially a certain one responsible for giving her team the biggest and earliest L in franchise, will find this nuance, like me. Good review as usual, my fellow Precure lad and I didn’t even know you made a cooking vid. Why wasn’t I notified? Oh well...

Seriously, are they trying to the anti-Star Twinkle with these series. How many times did Hikaru make bonehead decision and her friends bailed her out so she never had to consider the consequences? Yet, episode 10, just when shit gets real, we have Nodoka make a bad choice which has consequences and she learned from it. This puts her the higher tier pinks (so far *knock wood*) unlike her recent ilk.

Also, Harvest gets some redemption. It can also make a sword that throws out slash waves. I wonder if it does different things depending on range. A concentrated ball projectile for long enemies and a melee weapon and slashing attack for close range. I know Foutaine used ice for two different things, freezing the ground to make the monster slip as well as freezing it, but both are just freezing what it hits.

Anyway, I wonder if the cheap animation so far has been them preparing for this. And we got a cliffhanger this early in the series? I'll take.

Anyway, Star Twinkle can officially suck it. Healin Good is here and showing how to do Precure right.

After the review:
Wow. Just wow. This episode not only lead things off pretty strong, but took everything wrong with the last seasons first major arc and basically did everything I wanted and more. Not only is Nodoka in a compromising decision, she doesn't have many easy options. Considering her good nature (like many pinks) it's hard for her to turn down a promise but here we see how that ACTUALLY HAS CONSEQUENCES. Nodoka doesn't a free-by here. As an artist myself I can completely understand why this is a hard choice, but at the same time she did not make a great choice either. Essentially aiding the enemy when knowing that they get stronger the more rampant they get makes not only the stakes higher beyond "Latte gets sick feel bad for them uwu" but shows that the girls actually have to make hard choices. It's clear as Grace that Nodoka wants to share her passion for helping people with everyone, but this episode shows that she can't always do that. And I like that. It's a clever subversion on a Pink Lead's kindness not always having the best outcomes.

Raibirin's talk also doesn't excuse her either. It's clear she just wants her partner to be less harsh on herself as she knows she's passionate about what she wants. But at the same time Nodoka still isn't letting this go. There's no one to yell "that's not true!" Nodoka had to deal with this herself. Thankfully she's not alone.

Overall, great action, good set up, nice tension, and a good lesson overall. I have the feeling we might see more of this later on.

Edit: I should mention this but I'm glad they ditched the whole "Precure don't need swords thing" here. I get it's original purpose but the harvest bottle desperately needed an upgrade.

Thanks for the review! Stay healthy everyone!

I can't believe what I am watching, fight scenes that last longer than 1 minute, and in fact almost the entire episode. No spamming of stock animations, good characterization, for both the cures and the healing animals.
Rising tension, that just keeps getting tenser. Morals and characters being tested.

The cute kind pink whipping out a damn SWORD. Nodoka of all characters. The damn sickly cute one that was amused by trains and jumping fish just 3 minutes ago.
Bro, Nodoka is straight damn thug. When she goes off, she GOES HARD! Like her encounter with Daruizen in that earlier episode. My girl was literally about to throw hands with him after talking with him for 1 minute.
Man, I hate to keep mentioning previous pinks (COUGHHikaruCOUGH) but it's so refreshing to watch the pink lead just... go off, man. Instead of insisting on spitting out niceities and have grand "friendship is great" speeches or whatever bullshit every time.
Grace just whips out her sword and goes off. Of course, she still has her kindness and compassion going on, but that's just the thing. It feels like all of that FUELS her to throw down even harder. Girl straight up said "No" whipped out her sword and went off, all for her promise to the artist. Yeah, it was a pretty dumbo choice. Like Rabbarin said, the art will the destroyed anyway if she just jumps in and fails. But, MAN was it a good scene.

Nodoka is so much fun to watch. She goes from "uwu trains!" to whipping out her sword and throwing hands in like 0.2 seconds.
I have to say, as much as I like Hana from Huggtto, Nodoka has become my favorite pink now.

And from the order of the megapathogerms being defeated going from Garuwin, then Shindone, means that Daruizen's flower one will be the last and strongest one. I'm not going to hope for TOO much, but a small continuation of Grace throwing down with him would be nice. Even Grace just glaring at him for a second would be epic.

This is by far the best episode of this series. This episode has a very good fight scene (the Fruit Bottle attack thank goodness is much better), tension moments, great OST, and by far the most important thing, the pink lead made a mistake, later reflect on it, and apologized and is willing to do better. This sort of character is a welcome come back for pink leads for the modern Precure era.

And speaking of modern Precure era, they really amped up the action and brutality compare to the last few Precure series. This is something I miss in Precure for a long time, and I am glad this made a nice come back for the new era. Let's see how the 2 parter concludes.

Also Azenzone, I have watched the Digimon Adventure Reboot, and let's just say the reboot is.... different.

This episode is... taking it up with the production. Like, the only problem this episode have is basically just nitpick of a genre that it feels almost silly to nitpick it.

I'm going back to my gaming so I'll just pick up the thing that I like on this episode. The thing I like the most is the music for this episode, especially the track that plays when they're splitting into three place and tried to tackle on the Byogenz at the same time. The transition into Precure theme after they kicked the Guaiwarui's Byogenz out of the Museum feels very good as well.

The next is the buildup in the grand scheme. I understand that they wanted to built up for the first group attack of the series but it is just nice to see how they actually have a sound strategic approach. Splitting force isn't exactly a bad tactic and it is indeed a good call since they're attacked in a 3 way attack. It is actually interesting since it is an accidental result from the Byogenz since they're just doing their things without actual leadership lol. Back to strategic approach, I was actually delighted to see that it is actually coming from Chiyu and she split the force in the best manner. Nodoka who has limited stamina is staying in Museum, Hinata is given to the place that she actually know so she won't get lost, while Chiyu herself take the hard part because she need to find the unknown force with only 'Yellow Flower over there' as hint (Also surprised that Chiyu is the field leader of the group). It turned out to be a bad strategy though and the Healing Animal is smart enough to realize it and swiftly suggest a strategic retreat so they could tackle it one by one with combined force. Also despite Nodoka making a bad singular decision by insisting on staying at the museum, it is actually a good call on the board because if Nodoka were to just leave to group with the other, there is a good chance they'll take more time to defeat Guaiwarui. Of course her reasoning isn't exactly the best one and Rabirin is correct that they need to group but the end result in my eyes isn't exactly that bad of a miss. Nodoka do need to make a more rational decision though since the whole time I questioned why she didn't lure it out since Guaiwarui is Stupid and with taunting he would be an easy prey. Well, the nice safe from Chiyu and Hinata is nice. Also it is nice to hear that Chiyu and Hinata doesn't give free approval on Nodoka's action and let her reflect on her own when they were on move to Shindoine. Like Chiyu just ask, 'done reflecting? Let's hurry then.'

The last is how they handled the upgrade bottle. Fruits or Harvest is a rather enigma since I question in what kind of logic it turn into sword. The Ice is rather straightforward and the mist is actually related to Ice since Dry Ice can create mist indeed. But Harvest.... lol it is cool though so I'll let it slide. Also I'm glad that the stock animation to put the Elemental Bottle only last for a second or two so it doesn't overstay their welcome. This episode's of Cure Scan is cool as well, with the shot being the stick blocking one of Grace's eyes.

The nitpick is just as you say, how the Healing Animal somehow teleported their way to the museum despite the place being in the nearby town lol. Also the three general should just do a 3 way attack more often, but we know that the main reason they don't is just because Toei doesn't bother with strategic approach lol.

Well, I guess that's all. I'm back to my gaming. The event point won't fill itself if I don't farm it ta ta~

Personally, i really enjoy this episode. Yeah, its a cliffhanger of whats to come for next week, but as is, this is actually great because they keep the characters in check and developed well (unlike last season...).

Now if youre wondering how their fairies manages to follow them so easily, i recall they can fly (except Latte). Add the fact that since u know...they said theyre going on a field trip to the glass museum, they saw a leaflet [? Or brochure? Possibly they told them before they go], maybe thats why they manages to follow them so quickly.

I also like to give plus points to the Fruit Bottle. It got a great buff compared to its debut, thank you Lolirock for that reference (though i feel some would put Yell into this saying the "i dont need a sword" line...which is funny cause some Cures actually wields a sword (heck, CURE SWORD XD)) even the Healing Sticks themselves. I thought its more of blasting, scanning the enemiy's weak spot and defending their wielders or allies, but its not. Its more like Parfait's Rainbow Ribbon...but even more efficient. Think of it like a Swiss Army Knife kind of weapon, its really cool how they use it well (like Sparkle making ribbons to bind the motw A, Grace creating a sword beam and Fontaine just blast the air with the icy mist).

Now, the splitting up idea is both good and bad. Good cause they want to find out where the other 2 motws come from; bad cause...well, u saw what happened to Sparkle last week so theres that. Whats gonna work? TEAMWORK >:3

BUT the one who gets the most praise in this episode is Nodoka herself (as well as Rabirin). This is one character who does something stupid...DONE RIGHT! In these recent seasons past GoPri, most Pinks who did something stupid, continue on being stupid until the finale (looking at you Whip and ESPECIALLY STAR!! =^=##). With Grace, oh thank the Queen. This is a blessing for me. When she did something stupid, she acknowledges and felt guilty about what she did...something of which the recent Pinks DIDNT DO (except Hana, shes an exception); Rabirin didnt yell at her for not listening to her. She still maintain her cheerful but calm composure a little and reminded her to be aware of her suroundings (thanks to Chiyu/Fontaine as well from the start), which is also a good thing. I mean i know she wanted to protect Nagara's work but...one, guess she hasnt seen what Sparkle has been through last week, and two, even IF she accidentally destroys her glass piece ummm...dont they get restored once the motw is purified? Just saying. Again, not aware of it but ill give this a pass =v=

Overall, great episode. Hope they keep the momentum going throughout this season. Their biggest hurdle is the 2nd half since the 6th Ranger will come soon. Hope they wont falter ÓvÒ

The cures first hurdle! This is something I wouldn't expect at least episode 15 or 20 but damn the villains are trying now!

Hi! :)
I'm just recently got more into Precure, because I'm working on a personal character design project inspired by the series in my spare time and thought it's a pity that I've never watched full Precure season before. So now I'm watching Heartcatch (on 41 episode) and Healing Good too. :)
I found your channel because of Happiness charge reviews (it's a first series I TRIED to watch years ago and it was a bad starter choice) and I really like everything you do! I'm usually not a big fan of reviews on youtube - but I really love what you are doing (even if I dislike TvTropes site you sometimes like to quote :P)! Especially all informations about scriptwriters, animators, directors and facts about Japanese culture - I'm VERY casually and rarely watching anime so I'm often not familiar with some cultural stuff.

As for Healing Good series - I love characterization and how characters are consistent, their interactions. Both mascots and Precure. Villains are more one dimesional (less screen time), but still characteristic and fun! I also like scenery and backgrounds and music.
My main problem with this series is that the world feel a bit empty. We have basically no side characters - journalist boy, girl's families, Hinata's friends etc are very rarely shown. We have no "victims of the week" this season - and I'm fine with that, but this was an easy way to introduce new characters and make world less empty.
Also, there is no main plot/story progression so far? I don't mind filler episodes at all, but in all 3 others Precure seasons I've started (Heartcatch, Hug! and Happiness Charge) we had those AND secrets, foreshadownings, introductions of bigger plots (like George, earlier introduction of future villains, Cure Moonlight or Princess vs. Fortune conflict) and here so far is none.
It's a pity, because I really love the characters, visuals and calm tone of the series and I hope bigger plot is going to be introduced soon!

As for why animals know about monsters growing stronger - I think they are familiar with how Pathogerms work because they are "trainees" - so they probably learnt about enemies. Or because Healing Kingdom is already infected and they experienced that before.

I don’t know what happened with the Harvest Bottle last time. Chiyu’s use of the Ice Bottle made it clear to me how the attacks were themed, and the connection between harvest and a blade makes sense but it also seems like an inconsistency.

This episode really stepped up from all the previous ones. It's just getting better and better.

On the side note, it seems like Digimon Adventure 2020 review may happen? Though the first episode was really weird and different. Really hard to judge how it will go.

0:35 how cute of you to think they wouldn't open up their word documents and type to their hearts' content XD

It's nice to see character development, especially for a Pink Cure, after a whole season of having the Pink Cure excepted because of the Power Of Friendship or whatever...

Can't wait for next ep...

I wonder if it would’ve been better to let Nodoka and possibly her team realise how a rash choice in battle could result in drastic consequences by not having the others come to Grace’s aid by the end of the episode, but rather let the Megabyogen destroy one or two artworks and let her be devastated by it. But I guess since we have to make the next episode the episode where they get a group attack, perhaps this isn’t a good time.

Nice review as always!

I know this isn't a problem unique to this season, but I wish the creators of the show gave us an explanation as to why the bad guys always pick the targets near the Precure Team. Like, it would make sense to attack other areas with much less resistance, but they always choose locations pretty close to the main cast's city. Something simple as that town and it surroundings being extremely rich in life energy or something like that would suffice.

On the other hand, I love how they are handling the development of the main cast, and the action is being very nice for the most part. I hope the trend continues for the rest of the season.

I have a feeling this two parter will be a growing the beard moment for the series. While the series got to a promising start already, I do think this is a bigger step in characterization and fight scenes. And as you said, they are happy to point out how being reckless can lead to disastrous decisions which is something that Twilight was very guilty of. The thing that this series emphasizes the most is how actions have consequences and even good hearted ones can lead to potentially dangerous situations.

JazzQueen

I wasn't expecting for Chiyu's statement to be tied to Nodoka learning a valuable lesson by the end of the episode so that was really good. I also really liked that Nodoka was trying to keep her promise. I think In other seasons, the damage created by the MOTW were also irreversible, but here you can see how it really affects the cures early in the season. I hope they continue with this.

It's almost like they knew Star Twinkle would flop and had this series after as damage control.

Wow, this episode's fight scene was well choreographed! I feel like the series is uping their game since 5 years ago. The art museum and train station added to the authenticity, yet i felt the art museum theme fell quite short and unnecessary as it was 8 mins in story before the battel scene commence. Yet, I get that they are trying to put 3 villains in one ep, in which the "danger" was sensed. I loved how they had to fight individuallly and have to save the other two elements in the next ep; its good pace to me.

And yes, Graces sword was amazing. Better than Lovely's Rising Sword or Yell's Melody Sword. Yes, I know Yell chose wand over sword, but again anyone can choose between wand or sword; as CureNico says, Yell chose wand due to saving and forgiving the villain (adding more empathy into the episode) while Grace chose sword because she wants to protect the artist's exhibits. Either way, both chose the right choice.

This was such a great episode, I don't think we've had one like this in the Precure franchises. It was well made with a good story and action.
