Before following all these steps, make sure to press the “num lock” key first.

My number keys were not working but I followed the following steps:
#Go to settings
#Go to accessibility section
#now go on mouse (under interaction)
#under mouse keys remove the chek mark from the box in front of 'only use mouse keys when num lock Is on'

If still you keys aren't working press num lock key in your keyboard just above the number keypad
