Not firm and secure possession. Safe. Umpires SLOW Down on calls.

He was out. He dropped it on the transfer. Good call!

Out- looks like he dropped the ball on the transfer.

Out because if you pick it up in your head and drop it that is okay

Terrible timing by the umpire. Firm control or voluntary release...way too quick on that call

Out lmao tf not even close and I’m calling out just base on the swing and the way you’re running. Also you didn’t even get there. Nice scoop 1st

He never established control being off balance and there was no voluntary release so safe. Could you make an argument that he did established the out with control and fell off balance after the out then dropped? Maybe...but umpires judgement

Questions:

1. How long does the rule book say a fielder must maintain possession for the out to occur? No minimum amount of time. Judgement call by the umpire is final.

2. Is it a drop ball out of the glove or a drop after the transition? Ball is dropped after the transition. A fielder has caught the ball after securely gaining possession of the ball, whether it is in the glove or the hand. I'd a fielder has made the catch but drips the ball either in transferring it to the throwing hand or in making a throw, the balll shall be ruled a catch.

Look under definitions of a catch for question 2. Umpiring general for question 1.

Safe because the baseman dropped the ball as soon as it got to him

If u look closely the ball came out of his throwing hand meaning that he had controll of the ball, transfered it, then dropped it out of his hand. Runner is out.

Looks like a bunch of booster club parents’ kids getting all the playing time as usual.

Looking at the replay in slomo, it’s not how long he held it, but did he demonstrate control. He did, and lost the ball on the exchange from the glove to his throwing hand. Great call in real time.

U1 should have waited longer, but it does look like a transfer from here.

Well if his foot was on the bag he would’ve been safe because he pulled the ball out of his glove then dropped on the ground on transfer

Safe first baseman’s fakt came off the bag

Correct call. Fielder dropped the ball from his throwing hand. He caught the ball in the glove then removed it with his throwing hand as he was trying to get up from his stretch. Throwing hand hit the ground when he fell and he lost the ball then, not on the catch. Runner is out.
