LCD Vs LED Monitors

An LED monitor is not an OLED monitor! an LED monitors only talks about the back light whereas an OLED monitors is a pure LED display and back light.

i found a diffrence in black screen between lcd and led monitors, its that the black screen on lcd monitors either looks like dark gray or dark blue or dark yellow, and on led monitors, black is much much darker, which means that black screens on led monitors are almost actually black, but not so close to fully black

If you are doing color sensitive work LED is highly recommended. LCD distorts blues into purple.

I have a LCD monitor for my retro consoles and a LED for my newer consoles
planning to buy a CRT but just wanted to see the differences between these two first

When talking about contrast ratio, Full Array LED gave better Contrast Ratio because of Local Dimming. either way CRT had the best contrast ratio and it is important because low contrast ratio give a washed out image even when calibrated and being an IPS Display.

0:57 No, the left one is NOT using the "cathode backlight". The "cathode backlight" is only used in CRTs aka the Cathode Ray Tube.
Regular LCDs use CCFL backlights.

Cold cathode backlights were NOT used in CRT monitors. CRT monitors glow naturally, without the need of a backlight. They work by firing electrons with great precision through a vacuum at a layer of phosphor that glows when excited.
The traditional cold cathode backlights are similar to your 'energy saving light bulbs.' They work by passing current through a mercury vapour, which emits UV light when excited. This UV light is absorbed by a layer of phoshor, which, in turn, emits visible light.

Both are LCD. The difference is the backlighting, one's CCFL-lit, the other is LED-lit.

CRT monitors don't use a "cathode backlight". You are confusing a cathode ray tube with a cold cathode fluorescent tube.
Cathode ray tubes use an electron gun to fire electrons at phosphor dots screen printed onto the glass front. When electrons fire from the green gun, the electrons are steered in such a way that they hit only green phosphor and only in the region the beam has been steered to. Same for red and blue. No backlight involved.
Regarding LCD backlight technologies, the only difference to the user between LED and CCFL is perhaps power consumption and therefore heat generation. Anything else is a property of the LCD panel and phosphor selection of the light source.

The LCD might look a little better if you clean the screen ;)

They are both LCD monitors. They are just using different types of backlight to illuminate the LCD screen. Why don't people understand, they are both the same thing with different lighting.

LED's are far better. I just upgraded to a Samsung Syncmaster S24B240 23.6" LED monitor, and it was like night and day better than my old CCFL LCD screen. My old one also looked like it had developed a brownish hue to it, and flickered just a bit, which hurt my eyes.

In the end, picture quality of LCD's and LED's depends on what brand you get. I personally like Acer.

You may want to correct the comparison in writing...both read LCD - note the LCD is on left, LED on right

So LEDs and LCDs are both LCD. The difference is the backlight. Is that correct?

Surely the "yellow whiteness" in the non-LED monitor can be adjusted in the settings? 6500K vs 9-thousand-something-K?

Four years later, we're still waiting on OLED....

While LED has terrible reflections when you have only a tiny bit of sunshine coming into the room.
LCD has way less and most things you say about colour comes down to setting up the colours settings.
Most pictures of videos you see all only say the same thing while basically that is not true.
You can make LED also look like it been washed out like you got ur LCD screen settings.

I like LCD monitor more because of the good contrast (grass thing). The main disappointing thing is the yellow-ish white

Agree with all the people saying it's a crap comparison.

Dynamic contrast is crap btw, it seemed nice for a wile until I started noticing grey instead of white subtitles occasionally and dark scenes getting way to dark to the point that maybe 20% of what was intended to be visible was. Even if it went from 20000:1 to do you really think it would be noticeable. And since when did it get interesting to be able to see 20000 or more shades of gray/shadow?

Dynamic contrast ? You should educate youself before admire it. Completely useless parameter.
