Garuda Linux is an Arch spin. It just comes with linux-zen as its default kernel. This kernel is in the official Arch repos, delivered through the official Arch mirrors. Garuda also comes with some "garuda-" packages that exist in AUR.

I agree 100% Troy!!! Awesome video!!! While I really like StormOS it technically is an Arch Spin, not a distribution.

Ok i'm running pure arch with zen kernel... neofetch shows Kernel: 6.0.8-zen1-1-zen OS: Arch Linux x86_64.. zen kernel from arch repo.. You say if it don't say arch were not running arch... So what distro is this considered ?

you can also use the zen kernel on Arch. What does Arch become when use a different kernel (zen or lts or hardened, etc)?

In the same line, what is Linux Mint then? Specially now that there are 2, the one based on ubuntu that is based on debian, and the one that is directly based on debian. Please reply, I'm genuinely confused.

About Manjaro is true, had many issues when installed from AUR . Thats why jumped to Garuda.

People argue that MX Linux is a Debian spin, especially when some system info tools label it as Debian GNU/Linux 11.5. But apparently MX Linux is a separate distro based on Debian because it uses the mx kernel. Thanks for shedding some light into this matter.

Hey, as a new linux user, i want to sincerely thank you for all your wonderful and informative videos!
Also, out of OpenSUSE, Gecko, Regata, or some other distro that uses YaST, which would you recommend for a not very tech savvy noob like me?
(Unfortunately the latest version of my tex editor program available only through YaST)

🤔I believe I get your point 👌🏽. My loose understanding/example is it's:
Sort of like how vehicles share the same platforms but are totally different vehicles.
..The engines, the exhaust, the interior & exterior.. etc have been modified or completely replaced, depending on the model & company.
Vs. sharing a platform & not changing the engine. The vehicles only has changes to the name, the look & feel of the interior & exterior for cosmetic & interface preferences...

I run RebornOS and i did a neofetch on it and it said it's running the arch kernel.

You do realize the Zen kernel is part of the vanilla arch reops right?

Same thing with Children and their parents, nobody calls me Harold because im his spin I have a Harold base but a different eco system.😅

okay. So, If i installed zen kernel in arch installation, through archinstall script, then, it's not a arch setup??

So because it uses a different kernel than Arch, Manjaro wouldn't work as well when using the AUR correct?

Due to this issues I'll switch to CachyOs or Fedora.

Waiting some days.

Manjaro SHOULD NOT USE THE AUR. / arch Repository do to bad things happen if you do. In arch packages dependencies are assumed to be the newest. same type of Problem if you run Debian and try to use ubuntu ppa bad things happen. Main reason why Manjaro is not Arch.

Are Devuan and Artix spins or distributions?

I'm sure that won't confuse people when distro been the term for years.
