I shoot night football. Which one is best for low light at ISO 3200? D300s or D7100?

I'd suggest a used Nikon D3S or a point and shoot camera.

7100>7200 low iso dynamic range. Still the best value Nikon out there, unless you're doing mostly high iso action/wildlife.

Frankly even for wildlife I've never really needed to go +1250 iso on my 7100. Which is about the range where the 7200 begins to out-perform the 7100.

I am still using a D3000...but I am also just getting into photography for more than personal use. Is this a good camera to begin a photography business?

Thanks Mr for giving us good advice. I have Nikon D7000. And I'm happy to have it.

Pentax is moving to full frame (I think they already have some FF lenses), Nikon doesn't do good DX glass anymore (lighterweight / same performance as FX glass ... if they wanted to), Sony isn't making APS-C or FF glass for its SLT-A series (nor a A99m2 ? ) . Depending what you shoot, the D7000 series are great. They work for portraiture, street photog, landscape, probably even weddings.

But for sports, wildlife, insects and birds I think a m43 is better. Why? The newer m43 bodies (oly's camp E-M1 / its sequel, panny's body GH4 / GX8) have very good AF tracking and burst rate. Newer D7100 and D7200 also have good focus tracking, but the burst rate / buffer gets full very quickly. That's not the biggest problem tho imo. Biggest problem is that you end up using FF lenses on a body that should be using crop lenses. You could save so much weight off if somebody bothered to make a 150-600 equivalent in APS-C format, or even the longer macro lenses / 70-200 lenses. A 150-600 lens might weight a good 2kg, whilst a 100-300 m43 is only 600g. It's probably not same image quality as the 150-600 lens, but it's much much much better than the Tamron 70-300 VC USD that I have. Give these m43 designers time and they'll design a lens to compete with my 300 PF.

well if you wanna shoot action, and maybe extreme weather and you dont care about video i would say go d300 not even the d300s you can pick up a d300 for $200-300 and it will do 8fps with the grip and its is just indestructable.

Wow, just saw this, I still use my D300, D7100 and D610 in 2025, had to laugh, you said D300S was 'getting old' 9 years ago, LOL, still takes phenomenal images and with ai upsclaling, can print as big as I want..
