I love the 50mm 1.8 it was my first lens on my 2000d but for everybody with a Crop sensor I would recomend a 35mm (50mm equivalent) if they plan on shooting indors or in tight spaces

I disagree that a nifty nifty is a must have lens. For a full frame camera, definitely, but for aps-c cameras (which most people use when a beginner) it's far too cropped to be useful in a lot of situations

Can't find cheap 35mm ASP-C for Canon EF mount, the Sigma 35mm is about 600 bucks here.

People always remember… the „nifty fifty“, so 50mm is mostly only cheap on (expensive) full frame cameras

At APS-C you better go for a 35 or even 24mm prime which are often more expensive

Also, the 10-18mm ultrawide he talked about are in APS-C terms and on full frame cameras the typical ultra wide zoom is 16-35mm, 15-30 or 15-45mm lens and NOT wide on APS-C
