As someone who has been using a 7500 as my primary daily shooter since right after it was released, the answer is - Absolutely. For Street Photography, Portraits, or Landscapes, the 7500 is an outstanding performing camera at an affordable price.

You sold me on the 7500, good video. Also appreciate the people who comment.

Completely agree will all the reasoning. Moved from a D3000 to the D7500 with the 18-140 kit lens early this year. Took a while to adjust to the controls, but no regrets. I started out with an F over 50 years ago and still consider myself a novice.

I had a D5600 and upgraded to D7500.
I like the bigger viewfinder.
I like seeing the numbers more easily in the viewfinder.
I like the two control dials.
I like the mirror up mode.
I like AF fine tuning.
I really like setting the OK button to 100 percent zoom in playback.
In fact I need to sell the D5600 because I can barely use it anymore.

I use my Nikon D7500 for my main camera. I did a shot this last weekend that wanted 4k video and stills. I was able to do both with this camera. The images came out great. I set the shutter to 1/60 th and let it roll. The video was great!

I have this camera (Nikon D7500) for a two years now and I agree what You said. This camera exceeds my expectations and I try to describe them below:
- 8 FPS is useful - when shooting animals, but You have to be aware that sometimes You will be forced to review more than 1000 photos - so believe me, when You are not a professional animal photographer the 8 FPS will be more than You need;
- autofocus performance is great - I have autofocus issues only with heavy (and very good) Sigma Art 50-100 due to its shallow DOF. With Sigma 100-400, Nikkor AF-S 18-105, Nikkor AF-S 50 autofocus is very good (please take into consideration that these lenses are not a professional lenses). Sigma Art 50-100 has problems when autofocus is set on points far from the center point (maybe it is issue of my lens)
- autofocus performance with AF-P (new steeper motor autofocus, as I know actually used also in Z-Mount lenses) is awesome both in video and photo. Video from D7500 is much more than I need, because I prefer shooting photos - but for occasional video D7500 and AF-P 18-55 should be enough, when You are not a videographer;
- this body is durable - accidentally my set (D7500 with Sigma 100-400 attached) fall of from 1, 8 m to the grass - lens had to be repaired by Sigma Service but the body works fine - I did not observe any problems (please, don't test it). It works also for 4 hours under -10 degrees of Celsius without any problems;
- one slot is not an issue for me - If I were a professional photographer, I would rather have two cameras instead of one;
- no measurements with some very old lenses - I don't care, I don't have any;
- battery life is very good: In medium conditions - at temperature about 8 degrees of Celsius I shot ~1300 photos (not lamp, but with heavy lens with autofocus working all the time) and battery level was at 80%. At -10 degrees of Celsius after 4 hours battery level was more than 40 % (I used external lamp occasionally, but I do not remember how many shots was taken);
- image quality: outperforms my old Nikon D3000 (which I still love for its lightweight and skin tones it produces) almost in every aspect.
I have no regrets that I bought D7500, but now the prices are too high - I paid lower price for new body than someone wants for used. If You thinking about D7200 instead of D7500, take D7500 - the only one reason where D7200 is better is that You have measurements with very old F-mount lenses, but it is not a good direction - believe me - try any AF-P lens and You will never want go back to old, noisy, soft screw-driven or manual lenses.

I sold this camera a few years ago for a Z50. Instant regret. It runs circles around the Z50 for sports, action and wildlife. It's a joy to use as well. I've also owned the D500 and D700. The D7500 is as close as you can get to mirrorless without going mirrorless. Unlike the D500 it remains relatively small. The deals on F mounts lenses is outstanding now. Also, the AF-P trio of zooms have state-of-the-art autofocus and can keep up with the camera, plus they are cheap. Buy the 10-20, 18-55 and 70-300 AF-P. Then grab the 35mm 1.8 DX and 50mm 1.8 and you're done.

It really is amazing what this camera can do. Super battery life, great ergo...you always want to pick it up...and reliable AF. What's not to like?

I really appreciate your candidness and honesty. That's what you need when making a camera purchase. Glad I found your channel.

Been contemplating upgrading my D3300 recently. Usually just shoot photos like landscape, city, etc for a hobby/enthusiast and wanted to stay with the DX series since I have good DX lenses. This video, especially the "moment of clarity" helped give the 7500 an edge in purchasing.

Thank you for this review! I unfortunately dropped my D3500 last week and broke the body and cracked my Nikon 70-300mm lens as well. I cried.😂 This review helped me decide on the D7500 and it arrived yesterday and I’m in LOVE! I’m old school and still love the DSLR and not ready to switch over to mirrorless or learn the new technology just yet. This camera is beautiful, shoots beautifully and feels amazing in hand. Unfortunately I had to also purchase two new lens but I’m happy with the purchase.

Good advice Bryan, I bought mine a few years ago second-hand, having had a couple of other Nikon cameras, including the P1000. But I sold them on, when I came across the 7500 in a local camera shop. I've never looked back, it does everything I wasn't from a camera, and it handles a Nikon 200-500 with ease, okay it may not be the fastest autofocus, but it's dam sharp and with a few tweaks of the in-camera settings the quality is great. Most people who have cameras are not professionals, but will still go and pay a fortune, thinking it will make their pictures 100% better. What makes a good photographer, is having a good eye to composition, and learning everything there is to know about how your camera works. Just for reference, my standard go-to lens is the Nikon 18-200, it covers every eventually when needed in an instant!

Great video. I liked that you kept it short and concise but still managed to get a lot of good information in. Plus it helped that you not only included who this camera is for, but who it is *not* for. I am looking to upgrade from the 3000 series and I found this video VERY helpful and informative. Thank you!

Funny, I just stumbled on this vid, just had a conversation with my friend yesterday where she told me she was ready to upgrade from her D3200 and I recommended the D7500. So I just sent her this. Thanks, bro.

Muito obrigada, Bryan!!! Seu video me alertou demais! Eu estava pensando em comprar ela nova, mas depois do seu comentário sobre ela ja estar saindo de linha e que por esse valor encontro opções melhores, irei rever minhas decisões. Obrigada pela honestidade! 🙌🏻✨💛

Looking to upgrade my old D5100. I have 3 lenses so want to stay DX. I just can't afford to go FX. And I'm brand loyal and not a professional but can produce some professional quality photos. Nice video.

Great video Bryan, you explained the D7500 very well. I agree with you that the D75 takes excellent photos but the video, while still very useful for me, does not do a great job of keeping focus with objects that move often/quickly. I record a lot of interviews and corporate speeches where the subject doesn't move much, so it's great for those kinds of videos. My external mic does decent job with sound. So I'm getting plenty of use out of the D7500, but saving up for the next camera upgrade.
