NY was a very different place back then. Such a vibe you had to be there. Proud to call it my home. Great footage.

The skyline has changed immensely since then, heck just in the last 10 years there's been dramatic changes.

I remember those stores... gone now. There were a lot of hippies in NYC from 1967-1973 but you never see any in these films, more of the business sector shows. Either way, I love seeing these..., so glad some people were out there with cameras to capture and preserve all this.

Best & Co. department store was just north of St. Patricks (2:51), where Olympic Tower now stands. Sad loss. I think the Royal Manhattan Hotel (5:32) became the Milford Plaza and is currently The Row.

Ahhhh… The Pan Am Building hovering over Grand Central, Fillmore East, Schaefer Music Festival in the Park, Times Square a sausage soup of peep shows and Broadway plays, Mobsters fully active in Little Italy, Macy’s Herald Square, The Bowery littered with rundown bars and winos, edgy and dangerous East Village, real delis, 25 cent pretzels from the carts, etc., etc.! THE BEST YEARS!

The charm of New York is how well preserved it is.
I get its not old, but there isn't any city that maintained its unique style the way New York did.
I love the city man. I hope I come back one day.

Great video! Imagine being a time traveler and telling one of those construction workers on the WTC that they would be destroyed in 30 years.

So hard to believe that those towers topped out but not yet complete, would only stand for 3 decades before the horrific events of September 2001

in those days no one caught an attitude if you walk around with a camera or video taking photos. now you can't do that. love the 70's in new york

Your watermark or whatever you wanna call it it’s very annoying. They could be lowered a little bit.
