Pariser Archives Films, the finest in 8mm entertainment exclusively from Rare Cool Stuff Unltd., proudly presents previously
unreleased footage of cabaret-pop singer Bette Midler and her accompanist Barry Manilow.

The footage captures Midler performing at an unknown venue in New York City in 1971, months before her 1972 debut album, "The
Divine Miss M." Midler subsequently earned the "Best New Artist" Grammy in 1973.

Alan Pariser (par-EE-zer), manager and primary financial backer of Delaney & Bonnie and Friends, was well-connected in the music world from the late 1960s through the mid-1970s. He often took his 8mm camera along to gigs and filmed his friends in action, with their permission.

I think this is 1973! I saw her in concert about that time! The Harlettes are Sharon Redd, Charlotte Crossley and Robin Grean.

This isn't Bette midler. This is the divine miss m. Big difference. Did you ever see the gay trio Gotham? They were managed by Bill Hennessy as well. One of the guys moved exactly like miss m. I hope you saw them, they were as much fun as early miss m.

I don’t think this is 1971. Sharon red and Charlotte Crowley are harlettes. They didn’t come into it til a little later. Watch miss m at the continental baths to see the original legend before Midler transitioned into the schlock she became. She should have stayed with her own movements and Barry’s arrangements and bill Hennessy’s direction and become a rock star instead of a schlock star. Watch Gotham videos as well to see New York in the 70’s.
