DATA:

Today, let's talk about ascites. Ascites is a condition where someone's belly is protruded like a basketball. But it's not fat. It's mostly fluid. The liver is leaking certain fluid into a sack around the abdominal organs.

The most common cause of ascites is cirrhosis. Cirrhosis is a condition where the liver has scar tissue that's overwhelming the function of the liver. Now, the liver can't function properly and is leaking fluid into the gut.

Other potential causes of cirrhosis are:
• Cancer
• TB
• Pancreatitis
• Heart disease

Associated symptoms:
• Portal hypertension
• Edema in the lower legs
• Bruising
• Gynecomastia
• Vomiting blood
• Confusion and cognitive dysfunction (potential remedies for this include: lactulose, sauerkraut, veggies, a moderate amount of protein, l-glutamine)

If I had ascites, I would start:
• Intermittent fasting
• Taking milk thistle
• Taking vitamin E (tocotrienols)
• Taking selenium
• A low-carb diet

I had the belly of a 7 months pregnant woman. My Ascites was from fatty liver from a very poor diet and probably past medications. That scared me enough to change my lifestyle completely. I eliminated 90% of my salt and sugar intake, and went to a low carb high protein diet. I took the milk thistle as well. I got a gym membership and I exercise daily, burning 700-1000 calories a day. My belly is now flat, and I can even see some abs muscles. I'm at my high school weight. The exercise also improves my sleep, gives me more energy, and relieves depression.

Ascites is horrible. My wife had this for the last couple years of her life. In the last 6 months the belly needed draining every 7-10 days, in the ER. We did everything the doctors told us to do & her health kept getting worse. Diabetes, liver cirrhosis, & colon cancer which took her from the liver transplant program. For 25 plus years she followed all the experts advice & each year it got worse & worse. She passed away 10 days after her 61st birthday & 30 days after our 39th anniversary. A year & a half ago & started to get the diabetic problems in my feet & freaked out. I began reading & watching everything I could to see if there was any hope or like my wife was I doomed. I discovered Dr Berg, Dr Berry, Dr Fung, Dr Mason & the list goes on. These wonderful Doctors have absolutely saved me from a terrible fate. I'm down 110 pounds & getting my health back better than it's been in 40 years. Thank you, thank you, thank you Dr Berg.

My ascites stopped two months ago. When I went to the Dr a few days ago they said the small pocket of fluid that was left by my liver, dissolved also. I had all the symptoms of liver failure,
disease cirrhosis . I dealt with ascites for a full six months straight. they were getting 5 to 10 L every two weeks then started going weekly. Two months ago it just stopped. 😭 Happy tears! Yes I do what you posted and exercise and lift weights and drink lemon water.
year-ago the symptoms started, I haven’t drunk in eight months and I'm really healing. Thank you for sharing this with us. You are saving lives!

Dr. Berg I normally weighed in at 170 then 12/25/20 my only son was found dead from a overdose. I went in to a depression & didn't care what I ate or drank, I just quit caring about anything. In may 2020 I weighed in at 269.9 & I ran across your channel & started in purchasing all the items you have taught me about along with fasting 3 months later I weighed in at 230 I'm on my way back to my health & sanity. Forever in dept you. God bless you Sir.

Dr Berg!

In January 2020
I stayed two months with, and cared for a friend who was in liver failure from autoimmune hepatitis (MELD 16).
She'd already undergone perisentesis x3 (total 27 liters). Once she was sent home I put her on a very low salt diet, as clean and anti inflammatory as I knew how (no additives, sugar, salt, preservatives, oil, fried foods, etc).
I also massaged her very swollen extremities twice a day towards her heart for about an hour each time using coconut oil. Rest and quiet in the serenity of her own home were also a big part of her care.

Every morning she got a celery, (apple or pineapple) with fresh organic turmeric root juice before breakfast.

Though all her doctors told her she'd need perisentesis for life, she has not had perisentesis since the middle of March 2020 and her MELD is normal!

The alopathic professionals (Stanford) still haggle with her during infrequent follow ups to begin an immunosuppressant medication used with kidney transplant patients! She never had a transplant and her liver is holding it's own now!!

We are "fearfully and wonderfully made"

I have been doing the fasting and some keto and I lowered my bad cholesterol 53 points without medication. I currently have fatty liver allegedly but it sounds more like this condition you just described. I’m getting a little better every month 🙏🏾.

Here's my story; from 11/21-1/22, I was placed on hospice care with multiple system organ failure due to cirrhosis, including horrible abdominal ascites. I kicked out amid the chaos and survived. However, for the first two months I continued to have terrible ascites and was undergoing bi-monthly paracentisis procedures to drain the fluid. When I saw my liver specialist, she advised my this was primarily due to a low albumin level, and the secret to raising my albumin was taking protein shakes. I followed her advice, and I'm back working full time, am work out almost daily, am 6'2" 200 lbs with 9.4% body fat and a 32-inch waist with an 8-pack. I'm so blessed to have such a thoughtful care team, and if you haven't yet tried, focus on raising your albumin with regular daily or multiple times per day whey protein shakes.

When I worked in hospice many of my patients had ascites. [Of course, they were in the end stages of their disease processes.] It was awful! Many of them couldn't or wouldn't do any activities away from home, even on days they felt good, because they had to pee so often due to the diuretics. It was very upsetting to them. So sad! Dr. Berg is here to help us prevent the need for hospice services. Thank you, Dr. Berg! Your curriculum should be a required course in all high schools!

How coincidental. I see a lot of older men with this condition. I called it a galvanized belly. My beloved Uncle George had ascites. He died years ago but I saw a man recently who had this condition, thought of my uncle, and then wondered what causes this problem. That was Sunday and I got the scientific answer today.

Dr Berg, you are right on. My first husband was diagnosed with liver disease and wound up with all the symptoms you mentioned, including the inability to process ammonia, it was so painful and frustrating to watch. Finally he was able to grt a liver transplant but died 2 years later after not taking care of himself.
Regular mds know little to nothing about how important it is to eat right and support your liver with these nutrients like E, Selenium, milk thistle and more. He didn't drink but he was a sugaraholic.
Thank you for all you do, your advice is spot on, in so many things.

I see this a lot in men they're skinny all over with huge bellies and I say to myself that's an obvious liver problem. I think they think it's just fat. We need more doctors with natural remedy knowledge. Our healthcare system is horrible IMO

10 days into keto and I've already lost 10 pounds, I can actually see and feel the difference already. I no longer feel like my organs are being crushed and I am less breathless. The information and knowledge your videos provide has been a godsend and give me the motivation to see it through till the end. I am no longer content to be a big pharma super user. Thank you for all you do and best wishes from Scotland.

As an obese adult most of my life, I started Keto in May 2021. I also progressed to OMAD with a couple 72 hour fasts a month. I lost 140 pounds by Sept 2022. At 57 I felt 25 again, my belly was gone and I was active again. A full physical in Sept 2022 showed great health and numbers (A1C 5.0) Liver enzyme's normal. In October, I started to get swelling in my feet & legs, and my belly was returning, even though I was still OMAD and eating well. It progressed until I went to the ER. Still normal liver tests. I insisted on a scan, and it found cirrhosis and ascites! I am still mentally processing this devastating news. I have had 5 liters drained, and need it again. Waiting for another Ultrasound and scope to see if I can recover. The Specialist says I am doing all the right things now, but I likely waited too long. This is definitely a silent killer! I am following Dr Berg's program and trying to stay positive but I am losing muscle tone and weight while the fluid accumulates in my abdomen. Hoping for another chance! Best of luck to everyone trying to take care of themselves! It is more important than anything else!

This is the most helpful, practical video I have seen as far as helping reduce impacts on the liver for someone with cirrhosis. Thank you so much, Dr. Berg, for sharing so simply what many doctors aren’t trained to know would be helpful. It’s a tremendous blessing.

My 4 year old son hit his stomach hard on the playground and he has been having stomach pain since then (4 weeks now) they did ultrasound and found mild ascites around his liver. They said everything else looks good and they won’t do any treatment on him… I will definitely try some of natural remedies you have mentioned. Hopefully he can fully recover and be happy again. Thank you Dr.

I fought this and won, but I didn't have Dr. Berg's advice then, I wish I had. Thank you again for giving advice to people with liver disease, mostly nobody cares about us. The comments below are good but what is critical is to stop drinking. Cut the white flour and sugar and IF. Milk thistle. The side effect of this is not only a better life but you'll start to notice your "luck" goes from bad to good in life. You win, and so do the people who love you.

Great video!
There are so many men and some women with a big belly and they are not pregnant! Thank you for telling people about a natural way to treat the illness.
