Could Muslim forces have conquered Europe during the Middle Ages? Well if the Battle of Tours in 732, where Frankish King Charles Martel defeated the army of the Umayyad Caliphate led by 'Abdul Rahman Al Ghafiqi, had the opposite outcome it’s very possible European history could have been wildly different. How so? Watch the episode to find out.

This is an amazing source of alternative history.

The only issue is that the Byzantine Empire (which was often the most powerful state in Europe in any way shape form) is completely left out of this video, and their efforts at holding back Islam.

what I observed is that the video is full of battles and comment section with full of battles.

No colonialism, no climate change no world war 1, 2 and soon to be 3. No African American slave trade, No Hiroshima Nagasaki. No Deforestation. More equal wealth. Palestine would be free.

I had never heard of this consequential battle before and how important it was to European/Christian history.

I'm liking this new style so far! Shows the process of understanding history better instead of just handing over the facts. You get a deeper sense of the WHY of history instead of just the who, what, where, and when. This is also one of my favorite points in history, being a fan of learning about not only medieval Europe but the Islamic empire as well.

7:53 THIS IS COMPLETELY FALSE INFORMATION. Arabic philosophers? You are EXCHANGING 'Muslim' with 'Arab' which is an ETHNICITY. It's like saying Catholic and Spanish is the same. Those philosophers were ethnic PERSIANS; who had converted to Islam NOT Arabs. At that time Persian scientists hastened the codification of Islamic law and wrote the first grammar of the Arabic language. They were also the principal translator of the newly established library of Baghdad. Over the next three centuries the texts of Aristotle, Plato, Galen and other thinkers of Antiquity would be translated into Arabic. This doesn't mean they were 'Arabic' but rather writing in Arabic language; just like French were not Romans for writing in Latin language.
And The result today is that the Arabs define the gruesome 400-year occupation of Persia under the rein of the bloodthirsty Umayyads and Abbasids as the ‘Golden Period of Islam’. Nowadays many dubious figures and Islamists refer to sources that describe great Persian scientists such as Ibn Sina, Omar Khayyam, Ferdowsi, Biruni, Razi and many others as 'Arabs'. Theft of Persian Heritage and History.
