Studies report that anywhere from 25% up to over 50% of people are either considering leaving or have already left their place of employment prior to the pandemic.

It's important to understand what is fueling this rapid shift of the workforce and how it impacts the future of the entire marketplace. Examining the root causes of why so many people are taking their power back pulls back the curtain on where the future is likely headed.

It's no secret that workers are craving more flexibility, control, and rights over their working environment. Large corporations are being forced to adapt in order to retain and attract new talent.

However, even though we are exiting a period where unemployment hit record highs, people are still reluctant to keep their current jobs and are looking for that next step.

I was an “essential worker” which is laughable because they surely didn’t treat us as such besides giving us a stupid pin with the company logo.

I was an essential worker until I left on July 4th this year. The only break I got was when I had Covid. I had to manage a team through a pandemic and then a raw materials shortage and hiring shortages. There is plenty of America that never got a taste of remote work we just got tired keeping the economy running.

Our country needs to readjust our expectations of 24/7 and overnight delivery. Some person is being driven to meet those demands.

I’m loving working from home since the locked down and never want to go back to the office. Don’t want to waste 2 hours in traffic every day and high gases. There are so many other awesome benefits for working from home and one of them is being more productive.

Work from home should be standard unless of course you have a career when it's required to leave (surgeon, schoolteacher, plumber etc). Why are we paying for our homes just to be in them part time? 😭

I’ll be ok with a hybrid schedule but if I’m forced to go back full time, I’ll probably be looking elsewhere. I have a long commute. I’ve enjoyed not having to deal with the traffic and getting up so early.

I'd rather remote all the time, come in as necessary. Necessary not being because my manager wants me in the office. Necessary means I need to touch hardware.

My work for Government is still stymied by the idea that workers should come back to the office. I feel like a lone voice saying, don't remodel and keep workers in the workplace, but send them home instead. But the upper management is on a one-track mind of traditional office workers. As you said, these jobs are dead-end jobs.

What allows them to do this? Is it due part to (1) women discovering they could stay at home part-time and save on childcare & work expenses, and it would be cheaper than working full time? (2) high amount of Federal aid that has allowed workers' rent to be subsidized, (3) high jobs due to federal aid to Wall Street, and maybe less jobs sent to China due to trade wars under He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named?

The hybrid schedule implementation often includes designating a regular day off, like a Friday on a 9/80 schedule, to be a "work from home" day. Trust me, businesses aren't going to let go of their ability to micromanage their cubicle slaves that easily.
