The version that I first heard was a little bit different regarding the pomegranate. The version I heard was that Persephone took one bite of the pomegranate, and however many seeds she got with that first bite (about three or four) was the number of months she stayed in the Underworld with Hades, and those respective months became the months of the season of Winter. But at the same time, all the other versions I've heard, with Percy Jackson being the sole exception, state that Hades is VERY faithful to his wife, and DOES legitimately love her.

Interesting detail many writers have noticed:

In myths that involve a mortal going to the underworld (like Orpheus or Theseus) Persephone is there. Now all these myths could maybe just be happening during the winter, but that would be a pretty long chain of coincidences.

The more likely scenario is that she's there because she wants to be there; yes she has a job in the mortal world, but ye olde gods were always off duty sometimes (see every myth where a god got busy with a mortal).

Plus Hades is generally shown to be a very reasonable god, and myths that explore their relationship like with Minthe or Adonis usually end with the two as a happy couple.

Hence why modern tellings usually paint them as the only Olympian power couple with their act together.

Actually Hades didn't abduct Persephone on a spot. He tried to get over it, when that didn't work he went to Zeus and asked for permission to marry Persephone which was granted to him. However Zeus knew that Demeter, Persephone's mother would never allow their marriage so he suggested the kidnapping and even helped Hades with it.


Sadly this isnt the first time I see you portraying Hades more vile and cruel then he is in the myths. Don't bring your biases to your videos mate.

Hades needs love Persephone's mother needs to understand that she can't keep her daughter forever with her Persephone needs to be free and being in love with Hades.
