Which, in some versions of this story, this union is why there are seasons to begin with. When Persephone is with Demeter, Demeter is happy, and tends to her duties readily, and this act results in Spring and Summer. However, when Persephone is with Hades, Demeter is sad and downtrodden, and thus neglects her duties, and as a result, Fall and Winter occur.

The only relationship that isn't as f*cked up as everything else. Another one is the love story of Eros and Psyche despite it starting out with deceiving and betrayal it ended with sacrifice and forgiveness

The healthiest relationship in Greek mythology

Persephone and Hades is one of the few marriages in Greek myth where the spouses are decently equal. Persephone is given similar respect in name and epitaph. She is not a mistress or powerless wife, she is queen and has done a lot in people's adventures to the underworld

It’s still a more functional relationship then Zeus and Hera

Hades can stay faithful to his wife while she's gone for at least half the year, Zeus cheats on his wife if she blinks too long

I like how one of the healthiest relationships in mythology is a story of a dad selling his daughter away to her uncle and him forcing her to stay (or her accepting)

That version of Hades looks like Alan Rickman, I love it.

What a neat story, I wonder if someone could make a video game about it

I like how modern versions portray Persephone as a rebelling girl who's tired of her overprotective, clingy and overbearing mother, ran away from home and fell in love with the seemingly edgy bad boy from the bad neighborhood (who then turned out to be a total sweetheart).

I read that Persephone's mother was so sad that her daughter is away and that's what causes fall and winter, and when Persephone returns, she is happy again and that brings back spring and summer

I remember I read somewhere that in weddings, the newlyweds received vases with the image of Hades and Persephone, as a blessing for their union, in hopes it would be as strong as theirs.

Ironic how no one gifted vases with the image of Zeus and Hera, the king of the gods and the goddess of marriage.

I wonder why 😅🤭

Honestly I feel bad for how people treat Demeter, her daughter gets abducted and tricked into staying in the underworld even if its half the year. I'd be pissed and distraught too, its a normal reaction but people portray it as, "unu helecopter parent, such a controlling bitch who wont let her daughter marry her uncle forcefully >:("

It's pretty sad that so many people are willing to demonize Demeter so that Hades can look better in comparison. I know this sounds like a stretch, but you can indeed have a healthy version of this ship without making Demeter an overcontroling shrewd. And you can definitely read the myth without insisting she's the bad guy for being upset her daughter was KIDNAPPED.

The Disney version:

Hades: Eh go on, get out of here, ya little witch. Pomegranate seeds suck anyway.
Persephone: Oh really? How about I have one before I go? GULP! Or two! GULP! Or three! GULP! Orhow abowth thix? ERRGUAH! How does that make you feel sleaze bag?
Hades: Like spending our honeymoon in the Elysian fields. Hades fades back! SWOOSH! And that's the game!

Persephone story was originally meant to portray how daughters used to be taken away from their mothers to be in a forced marriages (this happened a lot back then.)

Although I don’t mind when modern interpretations take old myths and make it relate to todays time, I think it really undermines Persephone and Demeter’s story when people portray Persephone as someone who willingly went with Hades and Demeter as just an overbearing mother.

Also, for some reason people see Persephone as just some innocent spring goddess but she isn’t. She was scary and many people feared her more than Hades himself so I’m not sure how people even got that idea.

I like to think that Persephone eat the fruit fully being aware of what it meant. Basically a 'Ups, Mother I guess I need to go back there from time to time'. Great way to be freed from her overly controlling mother that otherwise would not allow for that marriage.
