What did the Big Bang really sound like? Spoiler—it wasn’t a cosmic explosion! Instead, scientists recreated a low, haunting hum based on data from the oldest light in the universe, the cosmic microwave background (CMB). Using advanced models, they’ve uncovered the true sound of the universe’s beginning. Hear it for yourself!

🌌 Thanks for watching! 🌌 The sound of the Big Bang is way more fascinating than the explosive "bang" we usually imagine! 🔊 Want to hear the sound without the info? I wouldn't recommend it, but if so it starts at 3:20 in the video. How mind blowing is it that we can listen to what the universe sounded like over 13 billion years ago!

This is actually beautiful. The sound of our existence being born in time

It sounds like a broken audio file from a video game... Basically it is a frequency that gets lower and lower as time passes...

Sounds like something from an Atari 2600

hi, I've had 2 surgeries performed on me last year and both times general anesthesia was involved. the thing is - I've heard very loud noise upon waking up after surgery was done, both times. initially i thought of it as some sort of "neurons firing signals again" sound, but after watching this video i was quite confused. it sounded almost identical to the "big bang sound" ! but in this video it sounds 144p or something very low quality, while after surgery it was very crisp ans HD-ey, with an electrical undertone to it. overall very close, i did even get slight derealization because of how close it was. that's pretty weird!

Absolutely mind-blowing! Hearing the recreated sound of the Big Bang brings a whole new perspective to the birth of our universe. It’s incredible to think that something so monumental could sound so unexpected. Huge thanks to Rob and the scientists who made this fascinating experience possible!

Maybe this is the sound you hear when you're dying. Sound is vibrant then slowly decreases into nothingness.

When I was very young I had recurring dreams where a sound IDENTICAL to this

It would be completely overwhelming, and would make me feel as if I was being crushed and extended to an infinite extent, all I'd see would be what looked like a giant wall/ plane/ space of beige with maybe some red falling/ sliding down it.

Never forgot those dreams, never thought I'd hear a sound so similar, although the sound in the dreams were ever so slightly closer to the THX movie intro noise.

EDIT: Either would see the beige dimension or just a pitch black void with slight static, saw both more than once

This video has a good utility - just play it if there’s water in your phone’s speakers.

Things were close enough back then to be a medium for sound to travel to. Though I always thought it's not like you could ever get hit by the Shockwave of the bang, you can only be within it as it already expands.

i think my old headphones sound like that. Probably it was made over 14 billion years ago.
