Here at Lawrence Livermore National Lab, we actually make new elements! But the question remains...how? And also...why?

Great content hosted by a talented science translator. It's a shame these videos don't get the same level of attention as Seeker, with the same host.

I'm currently working on my chemical engineering degree, while also working alongside hazardous materials at my work. I feel like a kid at Disney land learning about all this stuff! I love that I found your channel, you do an amazing job at making your videos fun to listen to!

Oh its livermore. Nice job on the team that made Livermorium

Fantastic video, I think a more exciting aspect discussed isn't even the how (which was great), but the why. How this process, even when just figuring out how to approach creating/finding a new element, pushes the boundaries of what we fundamentally "know" and believe. Great video, subscribed!

Great video. Now I know how new elements are created.

Interesting about naming elements is that what we may call here on Earth Aluminum, may be called Gonzonium on another planet.

elements are points of turbulence that radiate energy within a consistent or relatively consistent frequency. The frequency that is radiated by these points of turbulence is merely a waveform that represents potential action whereas everything in the Universe is probably made out of pure potential energy. If we cannot create elements that have a lifespan that can be mathematically predicted within a probability distribution then we cannot say that we are creating order or learning anything about how order propagates within our frame of reference. Given that much like elements, we also have a limited amount of potential actions we should be dedicating our resources to the actions that are most probable to create certainty about the future. In fact, i think that understanding how turbulence corresponds to unpredictability is more essential to this then creating more turbulence in the first place. This idea, that particles and subatomic particles are made out of ordered structures that appear spherical within nature is wrong and we should stop telling people that it is not. These particles are merely made out of fields, whereas they appear to look like spheres from our frame of reference because the density distribution is highest among the center of the wavelength as we peer into what is essentially representative of an axis. That is due to the fact that energy takes the path of least resistance, corresponding to why structures within nature appear from afar to be spherical. I think that this is not going to lead to a model that can put a pin on the relationship between gravity and quantum gravity if we think of the universe in this way. I think we should be trying to understand how these fields move through uncertainty in relation to the order at which they propagated in the known universe if we want to understand gravity and dark energy, which to be quite frank is probably just potential energy that has evolved past the point of reference that the rest of the energy in the known universe resonates at. Dark energy is likely energy that passes through our Universe from outside of our universe that resonates at a much lower frequency over vast distances. As well as gravity. The push and the pull that appears to be apparent in the way that gravity warps space time is probably an illusion that basically represents potential action becoming too scarce beyond a certain resonance to propagate within the amount of potential energy that the field has to offer.

Super Duper Cool : D. I just read the book "The Elements. Theodore Gray", nice book about it.

Do any combinations that add up to the same number work? Like if we accelerated 20 with 32 or 51 with 1, would the end result be the same? Or is there a further underlying “compatibility” between elements?

Now I know how Tony Stark made the new element for his arc reactor core. He built a cyclotron in his living room and beamed it haphazardly across the walls till he hit the target material.

great video and btw it might be a good idea to promote this channel on ur own channel cuz i for 1 was late to party and come cross this channel accidentally even tho i follow most of ur work ( not a stalker 😐 ) many may not be aware of it existence... or not ur decision🙂. great work anyway, cheers.

Element 115 has some amazing properties.. i dont think you understand the gravity of the situation ! ; )

So we can have infinitely many elements? Just keep smashing bigger and bigger numbers together ?

I am a little bit older than some of you. I have been and have traveled a lot of the World. The thing that I would like to see is MORE and LONGER programs that Give me the INFO. Short Blips just do not help.

So you’re telling me I can’t get a particle accelerator and make an element that produces the same amount of energy as a nuclear reactor in my own basement ???
