Instead of sugar use a large pinch of baking soda. It takes away the tannic and metallic taste from the can… thank you Harold McGee😬

Fresh basil from the garden adds a nice touch.

I tried it with the sugar. I won't add the sugar next time. It was too sweet, and it hides the flavor of the tomato.

Depends on which canned you are using. I really like the Bianco Dinapoli, the crushed vs whole peeled taste quite different though. The crushed need salt and oregano, they already have a mild sweetness and a bit of a bitter aftertaste. The whole peeled have been my go to lately, they have 3g sugar (plenty sweet) and 240mg sodium (plenty salty) per serving. Just immersion blend, add some oregano and they are good to go!!

If you're trying to save a buck I think tuttorusso is a good alternative, they typically have a "san marzano" style tomato in stock

Hard to find here in Canada but I absolutely love New Jersey tomatoes man. So damn good and noticeably different from the classic Italian. I do love me some San Marzano though.

Cento pizza 🍕 sauce is BY FAR THE ABSOLUTE BEST… PERIOD!!! I can’t find it anywhere here in New England! Whenever I come down to Philly to visit my family I go to the supermarket and clear the Cento Pizza 🍕 sauce off of the shelves!😂😂😂😂

Since I tried making it this way, I will never do another way. Really easy and good and the first time I froze 6 containers of it and used it as I needed.

CENTO is my favorite brand along with Delallo. They're ITALIAN brands.

San marzano with dried oregano and perhaps basil. But I end up with fresh basil while eating.

Cento tomatoes are super good, I only use the tomato and NOT the water inside the can, it make a whole world of difference

Quick question, so I haven’t really looked in depth for these brands but in food service I can only get my hands on 7/11 can here in Toronto, Canada. I recall it May had been one of your finalists in the tomato comparison. How close was it to these?
