The person asking the question didn't say their back hurt as they stood up, they said "even after standing for a short time" meaning they've stood up, a short period of time has then lapsed (say 3 minutes) then their back becomes painful.

I understood that the problem was pain while standing, not pain while standing up. I also have a problem with lower back pain developing while I stand still for a prolonged periods of time (sometimes even 30 minutes is enough to cause discomfort). The pain spreads to the back of the left thigh.
Walking helps. Stretching also feels good. In the long run, working on some core strength (both back and abdominal muscles), combined with some basic on the floor back stretching exercises is key to victory.

I also understood the question to be about pain and stiffness setting in after standing or walking for awhile, NOT pain caused by standing up and it may go away after a bit. This sets in and the only way to relieve it is to sit down for a few minutes. That is what I have lived with for a long time so maybe that's why I thought that this is what they wanted to know.

No my pain comes after walking or just standing for 5 minutes, not when trying to stand

I have the problem of increased tightness and pain the longer I stand, but not in the process of standing up. It makes it difficult to do lengthy cooking for one.

My lower back hurts worse and worse every minute I am standing upright. Started wearing a Walmart back brace years ago and the pain is instantly gone. This injury is from a horse fall many years ago.

I stand and I have pain and numbness down the sides of my legs. I had back surgery 4 years ago and did great. It seems to be getting bad again. Spinal stenosis.

Strange you make thus video as I'm going through this all week with no trigger. It hurts all the time.

Well, I also have low back pain after/when (immediately) standing, concrete is a killer & worsens quickly. I do know I have damaged nerves, shots were recommended but I keep putting it off.
Sitting & lying down is fine, no pain.
In a store I grab a cart & lean on it to help ease the pressure.
I’ve had very hard falls, from horses, when you’re young you (hopefully) get back on.
At 70, I’m paying for it now.
I’ll check out Mr Olderman’s site.
Thank you.

Answered a question that wasn't asked! The question was VERY clearly about standing for a short while NOT how to get to a standing position. Dislike

Gahhhh!😲
Wrong answer to the first question!😲
Your viewers all listened carefully and read the question correctly as typed on the screen, but neither PT did!🧐
He should have listened carefully, then asked if it is muscle pain, nerve pain, or bone-aching pain and gone from there.
The cause of low back pain after standing for even short periods of time can be due to many things, but most often it's because of tight, tired muscles that are rebelling against being asked to do too much to keep the body upright because other muscles are either injured and can't pull their share of the load, or too weak to do the job correctly.
In my case it's due to muscle weakness in my core, butt & legs after numerous abdominal surgeries..
I'm now receiving therapeutic deep tissue massages, am doing specific stretches and strength training, and am trying to change the way I sit, walk & sleep. I feel much better just 2 weeks after Postural Integration therapy, and can stand, sit, walk and sleep with much less pain already!

Sounds like they have some kind of disc problem, not pain from just the act of standing up from a seated position.

Yesterday, Rick has been suggesting rounding the back. I was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis and am wondering if rounding the back is safe. Please advise.

Arthritis vs disc ? I do have pain getting out of the chair, it is better with walking *to a point *after walking say one mile even w good posture and walking relatively slowly my back will become painful and my foot gets numb ish. Sitting then helps but not for a while. Is this arthritis? Can you tell?
